Steve is in the kitchen frying okra and plantain.  Zorash called a little while ago and said that there was a man in her neighborhood that had a back yard garden; he was selling cabbage and other things.  We met her at the man’s house.  His cabbages were beautiful!  The prettiest we have seen.  We bought cabbage, green onions, yellow melons (similar to honey dew) and garden eggs which are a type of eggplant.  Then we went to another neighbor’s house and picked the okra.  We were happy with our purchases and the gardeners were happy with their sales.

We got up earlier than normal so we could try and beat the heat.  We started hanging the razor wire.  When Nazo came to work at 7:00 he helped us; actually he held my ladder.  He was so afraid that I was going to fall off the ladder.  It was not even a real ladder; it is more like a step stool.  If I fell I would only be 3 feet from the ground and I had the wall to hang onto.  He kept saying “watch Sister Kandie watch!”  While we were working we got into a nest of fire type ants.  There were several earth worms on top of the ground; the fire ants were attacking them.  We sprayed the area where they were and moved on without hanging the wire in that section.  We will get it tomorrow.  We got several rolls hung before the sun popped through the clouds.  We were facing the sun and when it came out I was finished for the day!  We will hang some more tomorrow.

Red, the part time driver, stopped by for a visit this afternoon; when he saw the razor wire he said that if we had called him he would have come and helped us.  That is very sweet of him but we really don’t have to have help.

Steve spent most of the day working on his lesson for Sunday afternoon.  The young men at Kulkpeni have asked him to teach a “marriage” class.  They are not yet married and they want to talk about how to choose a wife, how to get a wife to obey them and be respectful to them.  Please! That is a two way street!

This morning Zorash brought the lady that we bought fabric from a couple days ago out to the mission house.  She had some more pieces of fabric to sell.  We found some designs that we had not already gotten so her trip out here from town was worth the effort.

Thank you for all you do for us and for the work.  We appreciate your help.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
