We hope you all had a nice warm sunny holiday today like we did; 117o degrees F with a heat index of 145o F. The Easter Bunny would have been a roasted rabbit.
The two signs we had been painting and restoring were ready to hang this morning. That was our first project of the day. Timothy Niligrini arrived around 8:45 am to go with us to the village of Borido to visit the Church. This village is northeast of Yendi. It takes about 30 minute to drive there.
We had a good time worshipping with the brethren. I taught my lesson about the “Unchanging God” where I use a key and padlock. The audience was very attentive. There was a female toddler that was giving her caregiver fits when she was being held in the caregiver’s lap so she let her down and roam. The child was having the best time crawling back and forth under the benches. If that had happened back home people would have had a hissy fit but that is the norm around here.
After services we had our question and answer period and then Kandie passed out some of the crocheted hats the ladies made for the children in Ghana. Oh! How the kids flocked over to her to get a hat. They loved it! The mothers loved it as well. Last year when we visited Borido we took some photos of the church members. We made copies for the church as well as a framed 8×10 group photo of the congregation. Timothy told me that one of the children in the photo had died since photo was taken. How sad! Such is life here.
We walked to the chief’s house to give him an 8X10 photo Kandie had taken of him. He was happy to see himself in the photo. The chief had made some hoe handles so Kandie bought one from him then she begged him to change it out for a smooth used one. The chief couldn’t understand why she wanted a used handle instead of a new one. She also was able to buy a few other items from the people like small grinding stones etc.
On the way back to Yendi I stopped and picked up two ladies coming to town. One had a bag of unhusked rice and the other lady had some Wagasshi (homemade cheese). I was excited to see the lady with the cheese because this is the first time since we have been back this year that we could buy. We bought some for Timothy and his family as well. Timothy was a happy camper!
After our lunch we went up town to find a copying machine. We needed to make 310 copies and we didn’t have enough ink to make that many copies. It took us 2 hours to get the job done. Remember what temperature I said it was today. Sweat was rolling off of us but the job is finished.
That is it for today. Hope all of you had a great day and enjoyed your family and friends. May God bless!
In His service,
Stephen and Kandie Taylor
