I worked on the computer most of the day!  It was boring work but work nonetheless.  Steve planned on opening the Child Center at 9:00 but he did not have an interpreter.  Zorash, Meri and Amama did not come to work today because this is a national holiday; it is Easter Monday!  Mr. Iddrisu called and said that he had unexpected guests coming to his house and he had to clean out and wash the rooms that they would be staying in.  He said that he should be here between 8:30 and 9:00 but he did not show up until 10:00.  Ghana Time!  He said that he did not know the strangers that were coming to stay with him; he does not know how long they will stay; he does not know how many people are coming.  Now that is a whole lot of unknowns!  There is no way I could be comfortable with that arrangement.  Mr. Iddrisu said that one of the men was contesting for a position as sub-chief of some village.  He and his entourage arrived at about 5:00 this evening.  I asked who was going to cook for all these people; he said that the man was bringing women with him to do the cooking and washing for the men.  I wonder what they would do about water.  One of the rooms that the people are staying in does not have electricity so Mr. Iddrisu had to call an electrician to come and wire the room.  I can tell you this is just the tip of the iceberg in the things they will be demanding.  Mr. Iddrisu said that he did not know the people but that his neighbor knew them.  It was his neighbor that came to Mr. Iddrisu and asked him to let the people sleep at his house because all the rooms in his house were full.  Lucky Mr. Iddrisu!  He said that they were bringing the food that they would eat; we will see how well that works out!  Mr. Iddrisu said that he had 2 rooms that they could sleep in but he knows that the rooms will be overflowing so some of them will sleep outside in the courtyard.  Fun times!

Steve changed the oil in the generator this afternoon so he has that job behind him.  The electricity has been on all day today so hopefully they have gotten the problem fixed.  It was a big outage!  Kulkpeni and the surrounding villages did not have lights either.

The baby that appears to be blind and has curvature of the spine that we sent to Tamale last week came to the mission house this morning and said that she was supposed to go back tomorrow; hopefully she will be able to see a doctor that can shed some light on the problem.

Thank you for the love, prayers and support!

The Monkeyshines

The most frightening thing ever happened to me!  My jail cell has been invaded!  I am no longer living alone!  I have seen it many times and I have tried to alert Mom that the thing is living under the floorboards in the little house that is the entry way into my big jail cell but she did not believe me.  She has seen it herself 3 times.  I know it is there and I do not want to come out through that room; it might get me!  Mom said that it is nothing to worry about but how would she know?  Mom said it is just a baby gecko!  A WHAT!  I am a monkey; I am not supposed to have to deal with geckos!  I wish there was some way that I could scare it and it would find another place to live!  That thing is creepy!  It can crawl upside down on the walls of the little house!  That is not natural!  Mom said they eat bugs; really if they eat bugs why do I see flies and ants in the place I am supposed to sleep.  That gecko thing must not be very good at catching bugs!

Mom has a cold so she made me lie down and take a nap this afternoon.   The only good part of the nap was that she made Dad lie down too!  It is easier for me to take a nap if everyone is taking a nap.  At least today they left the lights on; I hate it when they turn the lights off; it seems like it is night time and I know it is still daytime!  They can’t fool me!

Please send an exterminator!
