Gomda, the mechanic, said that he thought the head gasket on the green truck might need to be replaced and then he said that the head might be cracked.  He is in the process of pulling the head off to check to see what has to be done.  Gomda does not work on Fridays so we probably will not know anything until Saturday; then parts will have to be ordered so we will be without the truck for a few days.

The mason had Timothy call this afternoon and wanted us to come out to Kulkpeni and look at the buildings; he said that he needed to make another draw on the amount of money we will be paying him.  We told him that we did not have to see the work for him to make a draw; he just needed to know that we would not release the full amount until all the work was finished.  Steve sent Timothy mobile money to give to the mason.  Last night we looked at the building and the work they have done so far looks good.

Zorash and I went to the lady that sells fabric seconds this afternoon and I bought some more pieces for the project Timothy is working on for us.  I did not get as much yardage as I wanted; the lady said that she is supposed to get another shipment of cloth next week.  I got enough to keep Timothy busy until then.

Amama was out of work yesterday because her neighbor’s husband died suddenly.   He was only in his late 40’s.  Amama went to the house to sympathize with his wife yesterday.  She left work a few minutes early today because she needed to catch a bus so she could go to the village to the funeral grounds and help cook tomorrow.  They buried him yesterday but tomorrow will be the first funeral day and lots of cooking for the guests that come to pay their respect.

I got a load of clothes washed today but it took them forever to dry because it was so humid and the sun only peeked through a couple times.  This afternoon it started to sprinkle so we brought them in; the rain did not amount to much but I did not want to take the chance!

Steve has spent all of his spare time making copies and cross checking all the documents that we will need for the visa renewal.  We are going to take copies of anything and everything that we think we might need; we would hate to have to make another trip to Accra if we forgot something.

Take care and please keep us and the work in your prayers.

Steve, Kandie and Skeeter

The Monkeyshines

I got in trouble this afternoon and had to go to the time out box!  Mom was sewing and I was sleepy so I crawled down inside her shirt to take a nap.  I was trying to rest but then something took hold of me and I popped my head up out of her shirt and bit her on the lip!  That woman is quick!  Faster than fast, she had me snatched up out of her shirt and shoved into the time out box!  I did not bite her hard; she was not bleeding; she did not even have a mark on her but I was still in trouble!  She told Dad that he had to leave the room with her so I could feel my punishment!  I hate to be left alone!  Being abandoned is worse than the time out box.  I was all apologetic when I got out; this time I got in Mom’s shirt and really took a nap!  I still have no idea what came over me that made me bite her!   The “Monkey King “made me do it!  Dad watches a Chineses movie about a “Monkey King”.

You know we African Green monkeys have quite a large vocabulary.  I have learned to make a high pitch squeaking sound when I get myself tangled up and cannot figure out how to get free.  Mom says that I am whistling but really, I don’t know how to whistle!  It works very well because when the parents hear me making that sound, they know they have to untangle me.  I click, I cry, I sound sharp shrill warning sounds and I fuss when things don’t go my way!

Don’t watch “The Monkey King”!

Love, Skeeter
