It was good to see the workers this morning.  The only person that we did not see was Donkey; he has Sunday and Monday off each week.  We look forward to seeing him tomorrow.

We got all the suitcases unpacked yesterday afternoon so we started distributing clothes this morning.  The mothers are always excited when we pass out clothes; they all look around to see what everyone else is getting; it is sort of like Christmas.

The sky was overcast this morning and it looked like it could rain at any moment; the mothers do not like to bring their babies out in inclement weather.  At first the only mothers we saw were those that needed to pick up formula but by the end of the morning we could tell that word was getting around that we were giving out clothes.  We will probably be swamped tomorrow.

There was a time around noon that we felt sure the rain was coming but it disappointed us.  The workers are praying for rain because it has been several weeks since there has been any rain and they have had to start buying the dirty river water and all washing of clothes has come to a halt.  We got a small shower while we were eating lunch but it was not enough to help.

We sent Mr. Iddrisu to the bank this afternoon to cash a check.  The bank is so picky about how the checks are written.  Checks have been declined because a word was misspelled; because the date was wrong; because we wrote the amount of change in numbers instead of spelling it out and because we signed our name too far above the line.  The check book is full of voided checks!  Today they declined the check because it was for 100,000.00 GH.  I wrote “One hundred thousand Ghana Cedis and no pesewas” Pesewas are what the coins are called.  They said that I could not write “no pesewas” because there were no pesewas to record.  What, have they lost their minds?  I am about to loss mine!  Because of the error Mr. Iddrisu had to take the check to Zorash and they both had to sign under the mistake!

When we counted the money that Mr. Iddrisu picked up from the bank we found out that there was 200 Cedis more than we needed.  Tomorrow we will have to fuel Mr. Iddrisu’s motorcycle so he can go back to the bank and give them the extra 200 Cedis!

Enough complaining; I should be happy that we finally got the money!

Have a great day!

The Monkeyshines

I have been a little rowdy!  I have been pushing my luck; especially with Mom.  I am still a little annoyed that they went away and left me so long!  I pretended I was wrestling with one of my toys and accidently bit Mom’s foot!  She jumped, which was very satisfying!  She gave me the look and asked if I wanted to go back in the time out box!  I quickly repented and rushed up to her face and snuggled down under her chin all the while making my “I’m sorry noises!”  I sure don’t want to have to go back in that box but I know it is going to happen sooner than later because it is so hard to be good all the time!

I helped in the Child Center this morning; it was a little nerve racking having to listen to all those kids!  I busied myself pulling leaves and blossoms off the Crape Myrtle bush beside the Center.

My Aunt Cathy (Mom’s sister) sent me a little white stuffed Lamb.  It is so cute; it is really a dog toy but we are not going to discuss how insulting that is to me!  The Lamb has become my new favorite toy!  That is the toy I was playing with when I bit Mom’s foot, “The Lamb (not the Devil) made me do it!  I have thrown the Lamb all over the room.  I have figured out that I am strong enough to give my toys a toss and watch them fly!  I have no control of where they go mostly because when I am throwing them, I am jumping at the same time!

Next time someone gives me a new toy Please, Please call it a “Monkey Toy” not a “Dog Toy”!
