We just got back from Yawando, the village where Emmanuel lives. Emmanuel was not able to give us any help finding his voter ID card. He said he knew that he had it but did not know where to look. His wife and his brothers were hunting around for it but they did not find the current one. They found one from years ago and they also found an expired health insurance card and his social security card. Steve told them to be sure and hold on the social security card because they would need that when Emmanuel became old enough to collect. Finally everyone got tired of looking and we decided to return to Yendi. One of the young men said that he thought that he could go to the voter’s office and get them to open the file and get a copy for us. We gave him some money for his transportation, some for his pocket and some for the man in the office that would make the copy. We sure hope that this works.
Zorash was late for work this morning because her “Peace Keeping” group was going around passing out invitations to their upcoming event. Because she was late she stayed over and helped with the ironing and sorting of baby clothes. Meri and Mr. Iddrisu helped us in the Child Center.
The electrician did not do such a good job with the headlights on the old van; we took it back today and he got them working again. It is a good thing we don’t like to drive at night!
Red has not gotten back to Yendi with Paul’s truck yet. We have been expecting him all evening. Last time we talked to him they had the truck torn down and were in the process of rebuilding the engine. The mechanics do not think the block is cracked which is a good thing. Red is hopeful that he will be able to sleep in his own bed tonight.
Thanks so much for everything you do for us and for the work!
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
