Divine called this morning and wanted to know if we could come out to his village and take pictures of him teaching and using the various teaching materials for his student teaching project.  He had someone lined up to take the pictures but they were not able to take them today.  Steve told him that we would not be able to come out until after 12:00 when we closed the Child Center because we were working short-handed today.  Meri did not come to work; she called and said that her children were sick. Divine said that he could not wait and he would try to find someone else to take the pictures.

Gomda, the mechanic, replaced the power steering pump on the van with the one that came on the new used motor we bought for the truck.  The power steering in the van has not worked properly for quite a while but we have strong arms and just make do by man-handling the van!  The motor in the van and the truck are almost the same motor so we saved everything we thought we could possible ever need from the old motor and it has already paid off in the use of the power steering pump.

While we were in town we hunted around from some chicken wire.  The small goats are able to get their heads through the squares on the pig fence that separate the mission property from the neighbors.  The goats love to come in and eat the leaves off the cassava.  If we can find chicken wire we will just string a row of chicken wire on top of the other wire.  It looks like we are going to have to wait until the next time we go to Tamale to get some.

Nazo and Mr. Iddrisu painted on more water proof paint this morning.  They were not able to work very long because they are still fasting and they don’t have enough energy to do much work.  Saturday they used 5 gallons of paint but today they only used 3 gallons.  It is going to take them a long time to get the mission house painted at the rate they are going.

Nazo said that he rode on the back of a motorcycle to some far village on Sunday. On the way back the motorcycle broke down.  They pushed the motorcycle to the next village and got it started but it broke down again.  He said they pushed it to the next village and abandoned it because they did not have enough energy to push it all the way to Yendi.  Nazo said he went to a village to get traditional healer that lived in that village.  He said that he knew the man because this is the village that his wife came from.  The man had a problem having children and the traditional healer was supposed to be able to cure his ailment.  I wonder how well that will work?

Thank you for all you do for us and for the work.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
