Yendi Notes

I forgot to tell you that yesterday when I was bringing a load of sand back to the mission house; Tichak and Timothy were with me.  We noticed a small car headed toward us that appeared to have lost a wheel.  Then we saw his back passenger side tire rolling down the hill toward us.  The wheel pounced off into the bush.  Tichak got out and retrieved the tire.  Now imagine how awful the roads are to cause a wheel to fall off your vehicle.  The driver was a pretty good driver because he kept the car on the road.  If he had run off the road he would have gone down the embankment into the river.

Steve had to attend class this morning at the hospital as a part of his Ghanaian nurses’ license.  When he got back to the mission house at 10:30 Shiabu the electrician was waiting for him.  They spent the rest of the morning and part of the afternoon at Kulkpeni.  They wired the lights for the new addition on the building, fixed the street light that is on Kulkpeni’s property and added a new security light to the back of the property to light the way from the building and sleeping quarters to the bathhouse and toilet.  We got to see the lights in action tonight when we went to Bible study.  Everyone is very pleased with the project.

Later this afternoon we went to town and bought the supplies for the Child Center.  We have a storeroom that we keep stocked with supplies, medicine, formula and cereal so nothing has to be bought while we are in the states.  We left for Bible study early this evening because we hoped to get to the hardware store before it closed but we did not make it in time.  We will try to get the extra paint bought tomorrow.  We are working feverously trying to get everything done before the seminar.  We will leave the day after the seminar is over to start our trip back to the states.

Steve talked Richard, one of the seminar’s guest speakers today and sent him the money for their trip to Yendi.  Another preacher named Joe is coming with him.  We have never met Joe but we love Richard.  It appears we will have to pick them up in Tamale.

Hope you had a great day! Keep us in your prayers.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
