First thing this morning we went to town to Gomda’s (the mechanic) house to pick up the spare tire for the green truck.  When the guys were putting on the new tailgate and welding the frame they removed the spare tire which is attached under the truck and forgot to put it back on.  Gomda took it to his house to keep it safe for us.  We would have been in a world of hurt if we had a flat tire out in the middle of nowhere!  When we picked it up we told him that the truck’s fuel tank was empty.  Evidently someone helped themselves to our fuel while the truck was being worked on.  Gomda was annoyed; of course we don’t know who is to blame; the truck sat out in the open for almost a week while the work was being done and then he sent it to the washing boys to have it cleaned and washed.  Gomda said he was going to talk seriously to both the mechanics and the washing boys but we know that no one is going to admit that they took the fuel.

Mr. Iddrisu was tied up with the strangers that are in his house so he did not make it to work today.  We would not be surprised if the same thing does not happen tomorrow and everyday that they are staying with him.  We stopped by his house to give him a package of prednisone; he was supposed to go back to the doctor for a follow up check up on his back and we thought that a round of prednisone might help him.  We knew that it would be difficult for him to ask the doctor about the medicine if he did not have a package in hand so we bought a pack for him to take when he visited the doctor.  His house was overflowing with people; he was going to lead them to the palace to visit the Ya-Na.

Donkey is still taking his son Zimblim to the traditional healer.  He is getting fed up with the whole process.  Even though the healer does not charge for his services Donkey takes him a monetary gift every time he goes to see him.   He asked the healer if he could just buy the herbs and Shea butter and rub it on Zimblim’s arm at home but the healer would not agree to that set up.  Why would he?  If he did he would no longer get anything for treating Zimblim.  I told Donkey that if he had taken the child to the hospital in the first place everything would have been finished by now.

Donkey said he was not feeling well today; he said that his stomach was bothering him so Steve gave him some money to buy something from the drug store.

Zorash had an accident Saturday with her motorcycle.  She messed up her knee; it is the same knee that she hurt last year in another motorcycle accident.  She is going to some traditional healer; he is pulling it and rubbings some sort of black medicine on it.  We suggested that she needed to go to the hospital and get an x-ray to make sure that it is not broken but she wants the traditional healer to see what he can do first!  Please! These people make me tired!

Amama was out today because of her father’s funeral.  Meri did not come to work either; her grandmother died.  Zorash and Steve worked the Center; well Zorash mostly sat because it was very difficult for her to walk.

Take care and have a great day!

The Monkeyshines

I believe that Mom told me a fib!  She said that the creature living in the jail cell with me was a gecko but I think it is really a DINOSAUR!  You know one of the definitions of a dinosaur is a “terrible lizard”!  Yep!  I have decided that a dinosaur is living with me!  I saw it again today and I believe that it is getting bigger!  It is so scary!

This afternoon I helped Dad pump up the water; it was hot out there and his shirt was ringing wet with sweat but that did not keep me from riding around on his shoulder making sure that he did everything just right!

While I was running free this afternoon Mom sat on the veranda and cut up several gallons of fruit.  She has to cut up and freeze lots of fruit for me to have when they go back to the states.  Mom makes sure to have a bag of frozen fruit and a bag of dry fruit for me every day that they are gone!  Today I gorged myself on Pawpaw (Papaya) . She only cut up bananas and Pawpaws!  Somehow they seemed to taste better when they were stolen from Mom’s bowl of cut fruit than they do when they are in my food dish!   I would steal a piece and jump up in the tree to eat it!  Yum!

Red came this afternoon while I was running free; I ran up behind him and grabbed his leg and ran away!  I scared him and he hollered!  I do not like it when anyone gets too close to Mom!  Someone has to protect her!

Dinosaurs are real!
