I finished washing the clothes that I have been trying to get washed between rain showers for the past couple days. The sun was out for a little while this morning but it started sprinkling around 3:00pm. It is actually raining right now. I was also able to wash some of the fabric that Timothy is going to use for the project he is working on. The fabric here is beautifully vibrant and colorful but it is not “color fast”. I save the pre-washing of fabric until the rainy season because some of the fabric I washed today had to be washed 8 times to get the dye out and to keep it from bleeding. Wouldn’t it be awful if you had a quilt finished and the first time it was washed it was ruined because of bleeding. The fabric I had a hard time with today was the red and black fabric. The Ghanaians use red and black fabric to make their funeral clothes from. When you go to a funeral, especially around Kumasi, there is a sea of red and black because most of those attending wear red and black. The ladies even have red or black head scarfs. Many of the large umbrellas and canopies that the people sit under for shade are red and black. I am collecting red and black fabric because I think a red and black quilt top would be striking!
Steve had Donkey wash the red truck and he got the inside vacuumed and conditioned. It will be ready for our next trip to Tamale.
We used the extra water from washing fabric this morning to wash the verandas. We usually pour it on the plants but with all the rain we have been having the plants do not need a drink but the verandas look good.
Steve spent several hours working on the documents and getting everything copied onto the computer so we will have a backup copy the next time we have to do the renewal.
Timothy called several times today because the mason needed this or that. We will be happy when the rooms are finished but we still won’t get a break because the mason will then start the walls.
Red went to Tamale to bring home his new used dump truck with a crane the day before yesterday and on the way to Yendi it broke down! The oil pump stopped working and the engine seized up; he thinks that he is going to have to buy a new engine! He is sick!
Take care and enjoy the weekend!

It is raining and I know that it is raining and I know that it is suppertime and I know that I am not allowed to stay in the house during supper. That means they are going to put me back in my jail cell and I will not like that because I am scared of storms and I don’t like the rain! So, I am trying to be really good in hopes that they will not take me outside until the rain stops; I am snuggled up under Dad’s arm hoping that they do not notice that I am still in the house.
I was able to reach Mom’s roll of paper towels this morning while she was busy washing clothes! I destroyed the paper towels; I don’t know when I have had so much fun! I shredded the paper towels! It was exhilarating! My mouth was very dry afterwards; the paper towels sucked all the saliva out of my mouth! I drank a lot of water! You should have seen the look on Mom’s face when she saw what I had done! She wasn’t too upset because she took a video of the mess I made!
Bounty really is the “quicker picker upper”!
