Timothy finished pressing the suit coats this morning.  He showed us the one he picked for himself.  He said that he was going to town and buy some material and make himself a pair of slacks to wear to the seminar next month.  I bet there will be other men that want a new pair of pants.  Maybe Timothy can take orders and make a little extra money.

Nazo, the day man / painter told us that he got a promotion.  He goes to the palace every evening after he finishes work.  His name is not really Nazo; it is Yahaya.  Nazo means “friend of the chief”; which is a glorified errand boy.  There are many Nazo’s at the palace.  Nazo’s father was a Nazo before him.  Nazo not only runs errands he also rubs the King’s (chief) back, fans him, fetches ice water for him, etc.  Nazo is now an elder to an elder of one of the main elders.  He said that his new position is sort of like a linguist / messenger.  Each elder has his own area to get messages to.  Nazo will carry the messages for the elder.  He will no longer be called Nazo but “Was-alana”.  He will also sit in a different place.  All the elders and helpers sit on the ground at the feet of the King.  Since we do not have a king at the moment they all sit at the feet of the Regent.  He said we could still call him Nazo.

Steve picked up Boat, the air conditioner mechanic, after lunch.  It took him a couple hours to get the air conditioner cooling again.  He thinks he found a leak in one of the connections.  After he put gas in the unit he wanted to clean it.   It was very dirty but that had nothing to do with why it was freezing up and not cooling.  We are back in our bedroom and it is cooling so maybe he fixed the problem; even though I am not 100% sure.

This morning we made a huge batch of “Pinkasoo”, the doughnut type fried bread that has onions and hot pepper which is rolled in granulated sugar.  Timothy wanted to know how to make it and everyone loves it so we made an extra large batch so everyone would have some to take home.   Timothy said that it was the best food in all of Ghana and that it was just like eating meat!  Well it is good but by no means taste like meat.

Zorash and I went to town to buy salt for the weaning mix and while we were out a lady told us that the city water line leading to the mission house was leaking seriously.  They only turn the water on to our area once a week so it is difficult to tell when there is a leak.  She showed us where the leak was.  She said that it was not just leaking a little bit she said that yesterday it looked like a pond.  We went immediately to the water works and reported the leak.  A couple of the workers jumped on their motorcycle and followed us so we could show them where it was leaking.   They said they would come out tomorrow and start digging.

Keep praying for us and the work.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
