Yesterday someone tried to move the 2 big gates that we had set up to block the entrance to the property at Kulkpeni.  They also moved the boards that we set up to block the small entrance; someone is not happy that they can no longer pass freely through the middle of the church’s property.  The mason said that he was going to put cement blocks to block the small opening.  He also started making the pillars so we can hang the gates but the pillars will have to dry for about a week before we can actually hang the gates.  The lady finally picked her garden so the diggers finished that section this morning.  We had to make 2 trips to get enough boards to make the pillar boxes.  We thought that we had the boards left from the pillars we made on the mission property but we could not find them this morning so we had to buy new ones.

Today was a holiday; it is Founder’s Day.  It is sort of like our president’s day; it is to honor the founding fathers of Ghana.  Zorash decided that she wanted to come to work today and save her day off for a time when she really wants to be off.  She works with a ladies’ group and many times they have meetings in the middle of the week; this way she will have a day she can take off without having to pay it back.

Mr. Iddrisu showed up this morning.  I thought that he did not get the memo that today was a holiday but he did not come to work; he came to harvest something from his farm.  It looked like he was picking green leaves of some sort.

Timothy said that he had to go back to his farm to finish harvesting his corn today.  He said that some of it had already started to germinate while it was still inside the husk.  He said that he thinks he can finish harvesting it today and then he will have to hire a motor king to bring it from his farm to his house.  His farm is in Jegrido, it is about 10 miles from Yendi.  He cannot leave it in the village or it might grow legs and walk away!

We are struggling with our printers again!  We have 2 that are hooked up to the computer.  One of them is just black and white and has a cylinder type cartridge; it will print lots and lots of copies cheaply but it is making streaks all over the paper.  The other one is a HP color copier; it works well enough but for whatever reason it will not print the page numbers in the footer which is very annoying.  I am sure that if we knew what we were doing we could figure out how to fix the problem, but alas we are computer illiterate!  Steve needs to print the Social Welfare report so I went “old school” and typed the page numbers at the bottom of the pages.

Take care and keep us and the work in your prayers.

The Monkeyshines

I got to ride in the truck today!  What a treat for me!  We did not go far; just to the back of the property to get some boards out of the storage room but it was fun anyway!  There were lots of grasshoppers in the grass today but I was too worried about the big birds that were sitting on the power lines to try to catch grasshoppers!  I had bigger things to worry about!  The back of the property is like a jungle!  It is wild and the grass is taller than I am; a little monkey like me could get lost back there!  Donkey said that he saw a big snake in the back field so he started the grass on fire to try to kill it!  A big snake might eat me for lunch!  I spent a good portion of my time standing on my hind legs looking over the tall grass watching for danger.   When it was time to go back to the house, I beat Mom to the truck!

On the way back to the house we found a couple of big mangos; what a treat for me!  Mangos are easy to eat and I don’t have to catch them!  I did not get a nap yesterday because Sundays are weird days; the parents did not get done eating lunch until around 3:00 so by the time I was allowed to get out of solitary confinement I was wired for sound!  I had so much energy to burn off that I could not take a nap.  But today I laid in Dad’s lap and took a nice long nap.

I am still a baby monkey!
