Dawda, the mason, stopped by for a visit and noticed Mr. Iddrisu and Nazo weaving thatch; he decided that he too wanted to weave thatch.  We did not ask him to weave thatch; he just decided to do it.  I guess all the grown men know how to weave thatch.  At lunch time we gave the men their chop (lunch) money and then at the end of the day we paid them for each bundle of thatch they had woven.  We had agreed with Nazo and Mr. Iddrisu that we would pay 2 Cedis for each bundle.  We decided that the men needed 3 Cedis a bundle so we raised the price.  When I went to pay Dawda he said that he had to have 5 Cedis for each bundle. We learn from our mistakes.

We spent the morning working on the books.  We started working on the annual audit which is no fun!  It will take several days to get it finished.

Today was Yendi’s big market day!  While we were at the market we bought plastic bowls for the school feed program at Kpamang.  We bought 104 bowls; we thought that would be enough but when we gave them to Divine he said that there were 199 children at the school.  We told him we would buy more next market day.  He was happy to get the bowls.  Without bowls the food has to be put into plastic bags which add an additional cost every time the children are fed.

Divine brought another load of thatch this afternoon.  He will only have to make one more trip to get all the thatch that we need for the project.

The lights in the van are not working so we took the van to the electrician so he could work on it while we were shopping.  When we picked up the van it was in worse shape than when we left it.  Not only does it not have lights now it will not turn off.  Steve has to put it in gear and pop the clutch and make it die to turn it off.  We are supposed to take it back to him tomorrow so he will have more time to work on it.  REALLY!!!

The high for today was 116 degrees.  Have a great day and remember us and the work in your prayers.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
