Zorash came to work today to make up one of the days she took off earlier this week. I had her make some Pinkaso for us. The lady that we usually buy from is not making it these days. We are not sure why but I have been hungry for some. Pinkaso is a Ghanaian street food sort of like a savory doughnut. It has onions and hot peppers but it is coated with granulated sugar. It sounds awful but it is my new favorite thing! We enjoyed it and we made enough to send home with Zorash and share with Nazo, the day man.
As we were finishing our walk this morning we met an older gentleman that was going to the mission house. He could not speak English but we figured out he was the guy that is going to thatch the round houses for us. Thankfully Nazo was here to interpret for us. We settled on a price for the labor; a price for the chop (food) money and a price for the old guy to act as the foreman for us. He would have like to do the job tomorrow but we told him we would not be around because we were going to Wadiig for services. He was a very personable man. He seemed to enjoy joking on me. When we asked how much the men needed for chop money he asked me if I could stir TZ; a type of corn meal mush. I told him no; he said it would be better to let them buy something to eat.
Divine stopped by for a visit. He bought a building plot in Kulkpeni and he is going to start molding cement blocks. He said that he wants to make a rental house. Kulkpeni is growing in leaps and bounds since they got electricity so a rental house is probably a good investment.
Steve and I spent 75% of the day working in one of the round houses that is going to be thatched on Monday. One of the rafters had broken and we wanted to fix it before the men started crawling around on the roof. Steve made several trips to the lumber yard and one to the hardware store. We finished about 6:30. We decided we were too tired to clean up the tools so we left our mess; locked the door and walked away.
Supper is cooking and Steve has gone to get diesel in the truck for tomorrow.
Keep the work in your prayers.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
