We made a quick trip to Tamale this morning; well, that is as quick a trip as we can make considering it usually takes 2 hours to get there.  We needed to go to the bank.  After we had loaded up the new truck we realized that it had a flat tire.  We did not have time to change it and have it patched so we moved all our stuff into the blue van.  Obviously we can’t count because we wanted to be in Tamale when the bank opened at 8:30.  We did our calculation and thought we needed to leave the mission house at 6:00.  We didn’t realize that we had gotten up an hour earlier than we needed too until we were half way to Tamale.  We stopped to get diesel and we were still the first people at the bank.  We were pleasantly surprised when we entered the bank and were greeted by an old friend.  Awal was one of the original bank managers; we got to know him very well after my mom died and we had to rework all the bank stuff.  We were sad when they transferred him.  He said that he is now back and he is going to stay for a long time.  We are happy he is back!

While we were in Tamale we stopped by and bought our plane tickets for our flight from Tamale to Accra at the end of next month.  We wanted to buy the tickets early because we will be flying out a few days before Christmas and we did not want to chance not getting a flight and having to drive 15 hours to get to Accra.  The trip to Accra by air has spoiled us!  I still miss the shopping!  We were back in Yendi by 11:00.

We are well into the dry season and the teak trees have started dropping their leaves.  The leaves are bigger than both my hands.  The leaves are everywhere.  This morning while we were in Tamale we had Meri and Amama start raking leaves.  Mr. Iddrisu drove around with the motor king collecting their piles of leaves and taking them to the burn pile.

Warihana’s father came back this morning with her e-xray.  She is the 12 / 13 year old that has Osteomyelitis in her lower right leg.  We have been trying to get the bone infection cleared up for several years.  She goes back to the orthopedic doctor in Tamale again tomorrow.  She is going to have some additional tests tomorrow.  Poor thing; she is in pain every time she uses her leg.

Steve took a couple of his hand saws to town to get them sharpened.  Dawda, the mason complained about how dull they were when he used them the other day.   Steve tried them and said that he thought they were a little sharper.

Thank you for all you do for us and for the work.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
