I wish I had one of those “All Terrain Vehicles” (ATV) this morning. Why? There were several times I was plowing water with the front grill of the pickup on our way to Jakpumba. I was thankful we were riding in a diesel vehicle because a gasoline truck with its spark plug wires exposed might have caused the engine to die. We are glad they have put bigger stone on these flooded roads so the vehicles don’t mire down in mud. Several places we crossed had water 2 feet deep.
Jakpumba is south west of Yendi. It takes 1.5 hours to get there. It had rained early this morning in this village. Worship service was running a little late because the rain seemed to slow everyone down. Before church started we were able to greet the elder that was standing on behalf of the chief. The chief had gone to his farm.
The lesson I presented this morning was quite different. The title was “The Unchanging God”. The lesson was different in that I used a padlock, keys, and a metal file to illustrate my lesson. I used an old padlock that had two keys. The padlock represented God’s salvation for man and Christ is the key to opening the lock. I had filed one of the keys down just enough so the key would no longer open the lock. The file represented man’s desire to change the key (God’s will through Christ/New Testament. Timothy Niligrini was my interpreter.
The question and answer period after services went well. The church building was hot. I think everyone was happy to exit out of the building when we finished. We were told there were some people asked to be baptized. That was great news! There were eight souls saved. Brother Isaac, a member at Jakpumba, preformed the baptisms in a flooded rice field. When we returned to the village we were presented some nice yams and a rooster which we in turn re-gifted to Timothy when we got back to the mission house.
It has been trying to rain off and on all afternoon. At 7pm the temperature was 76 degrees and the humidity was at 95%.
We hope you all are having a great Lord’s Day. Please keep these new Christians in your prayers. We really appreciate your support!
In His service,
Stephen and Kandie Taylor
