We left for Tamale as soon as we could get around this morning. We needed to go to the bank to get money and we had to take the documents the bank requested. The bank was busy this morning and wouldn’t you know it we did not have all the documents that we needed. They ask for the silliest things; anyway we think they are silly. They needed a location letter. The bank officer was kind enough to write one for us. Of course he has never been to Yendi and has no idea where the mission house is. We estimated the miles from the center of town to the mission house. Recently Yendi put up street signs which made giving the information for the location a little easier. After that we thought we were home free but no they needed a letter from the Child Center giving the addresses of all the signers of the checking account. We usually carry the Child Center’s blank letter head with us when we have to do business but we had forgotten it today. The bank officer said that the letter had to be written on the Child Center’s letter head so we will have to make another trip to Tamale tomorrow afternoon with the letter.
We took the accounts to the auditor and as always he was pleased to see us. While we were visiting with him he said something about the annual returns and the registration being 2 different things. We always thought they were the same thing; obviously not! We will have to go to the Registrar General’s office and fill out another form. If it is not one thing it is another! We can check on that tomorrow too. We might as well make the most of these trips to Tamale. We will have to spend the night in Tamale tomorrow night because Steve has a meeting to attend in the morning so we will not be able to leave until later in the morning.
We went to SWAD, a little outdoor restaurant for lunch. As always the food was delicious. I wanted to order the lamb burger but when I asked the waitress if they had the lamb burger she had an odd look on her face. She said “yes, the lamb burger is there.” Then she said something else that we could not understand. I asked her to repeat what she said. She was having a hard time trying to make me understand what she was saying. She said something about there is something inside the meat. I am thinking some sort of filler or spice or parsley; she said no to everything I suggested. Then she said the smell of it, someone complained, and the electricity had been off for some time. Finally I understood, the electricity had been off too long and the meat had spoiled and the last customer they served it to complained about how the meat smelled. Thank you very much for letting me in on that secret before you cooked it up for me! I appreciated the heads up on that one!
Take care and please keep us in your prayers as we travel back and forth to Tamale. Pray that we have success with the Child Center business.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
