The doctor told Mr. Iddrisu that he could try a round of Prednisolone for his back pain. No one has ever prescribed Prednisolone for him. Our niece Lyndie is the one that suggested it. We went to the pharmacy and bought a packet for him to take to the doctor to see if she thought it might work. She told him that he could take it but to wait to take it after he finished taking the Tramadol. She did not tell him how to take it, what milligram or how many to take each day. Maybe she is not used to prescribing Prednisolone or maybe she expected the pharmacy to tell him how to take it. It is a good thing that we know people that can give us the dosage so we can pass it on. Today was his last day for Tramadol so he will start the Prednisolone in the morning.
The electricity was out again last night so when Steve went to town to buy the diesel for the green truck for our trip to visit one of the churches tomorrow he filled up two more 5 gallon containers.
This morning when Steve checked the news; he found out that the Tamale hospital was on strike! They said they would only take care of the patients that were presently admitted to the hospital but were not going to see any new patients. Steve quickly called Zorash and told her to get in touch with the 3 mothers that we gave money to go to Tamale to the hospital yesterday. There is no need for them to waste the transport money and their time going to Tamale only to have to turn around and come back.
When Steve talked to Zorash she said that she was on her way to the traditional healer to have her knee squeezed and the herbs applied; she said she would come to work when she finished the treatment but she never appeared. We have no idea what came up. Meri said that she and Zorash were supposed to go this afternoon to the village where Amama’s family is holding the funeral for her father but since Zorash did not come to work she was going to go by herself. With her knee in the shape that it is in it would have been a miserable trip for her!
Red stopped by this morning to let us know that the air conditioning in my brother Paul’s truck is not working. We were surprised because last year we put a new compressor in it. We got an appointment on Monday morning. Red is going to drive it over on Sunday so he will be there when the shop opens on Monday. Hopefully it is nothing major; perhaps just a gas leak.
Steve has been spending his free time working on continuing education class material that he will use to teach the workers next week. He is going to try to educate them on some of the mentally delays that we see in some of the children and what can be done for these children. It should be an interesting class.
Thank you for your support!

The Monkeyshines
Today has been a really good day! I did not have to go in the Time Out box at all today! Kudos to me! I am such a good boy, anyway that is what Mom says; I have yet to figure out what Dad is saying when he is muttering under breath! I just get bits and pieces, “THAT MONKEY! SPOILED! WHAT! YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME! DESTROYED IT!” And my favorite ,“TWO YEAR OLD!!” I am sure there is lots more that goes with those statements.
Mom and I cut up gallons of fruit again today; I gorged myself again! Today we cut up watermelon and yellow melons. The parents bought all this fruit and now Mom is trying to get it all cut up and frozen; she is trying to guess which fruit will spoil first and work it up first. Here’s a novel idea; why not buy it bit by bit instead of buying it all on the same day! Mom’s a bit OCD with some of the things she does; she told me that OCD stands for “Over the Counter Drugs”! Do you believe that? I don’t!
I have finally convinced Mom that I enjoy my food cut up into bite size pieces and I mean bite size according to my mouth not Mom’s. I also like to have my fruit peeled! Mom thinks that it is good for me to peel my own fruit so she leaves the skin on the fruit, she thinks it will make me feel like I am in the wild! Really! I am not a “wild” monkey and I don’t feel like I am in the wild when I have to peel my fruit! Do you think Mom feels like she is a wild and free animal when she is handed a banana or an apple that has the peel on it? No! Personally I think she does not peel the fruit because it takes too much time!
But then what do I know? I am just a NOT wild monkey!
Love, Skeeter
