Steve called Gomda, the mechanic, mid-morning to find out if he had any success finding a blower motor for the green truck’s air conditioning. He said that they found one and that it had arrived and the electrician was in the process of getting it installed. About 4:00 this afternoon Gomda and his helper showed up at the mission house with the green truck. We were happy to see Gomda because Steve and I were in the process of pulling the old van out of the garage. It would not start but we were not surprised because almost every time we come back to Ghana, we have to buy a battery for at least one of the vehicles. These batteries are so cheaply made that they do not last. We tried to push it out of the garage but the mason put a big cement bump / pad at the opening of the garage because when he hung the garage doors he hung them too high and a person could crawl under the doors. To remedy the problem, he made a big bump. It is beyond annoying but what can we do? At least we don’t have to worry about the doors sagging and dragging the ground! Ha! I said all that to say that we could not push the van over the hump so Steve got out the log chain and hooked the van to the red truck. It was at this point that Gomda appeared. He was very concerned about what we were doing; you know our friends think that we are helpless; when they see us in action they are surprised! Before Gomda left he made sure that the van was running; he checked the oil and topped up the water in the radiator. So sweet! We decided to leave the van running and take it to town to run a few errands. We knew this was the best chance of charging the battery. We drove around for about an hour. When we got back to the mission house Steve turned off the van and tried to restart it but it would not start. We will have to have the alternator checked but it is probably a battery problem.
Steve spent a good part of the afternoon working on his lesson for the monthly class tomorrow and getting everything prepared.
A couple of the chairs at the Child Center have broken so while we were in town this afternoon, we bought 4 as replacements. We also finally remember to buy eggs. We have intended to buy every time we go to town but we keep forgetting. One of the night watchmen’s fold out beds is broken so we dropped it off for Red to weld. Yes, I can hear you laughing! We call them our “sleeping watchmen”! We are not sure where Kwabena will sleep tonight!
Take care and have a good day!

I am sick! I don’t feel good! I threw up! It was awful! Mom said that she thinks it was something that I ate! The only different thing I ate today were 2 spiders; the first one was alive and the second one was dead, well, it was not exactly dead; it was the exoskeleton of the spider after it had molted. YUM! I love spiders; they are my favorite insect! Mom can have the termites and grasshoppers, just give me the spiders!
Mom does not think it was the spiders. I was very hungry at supper time so I ate a whole boiled okra pod, then I had some cabbage, some mango, a raw okra, a few pieces of corn, grape juice and then I drank a whole bottle of milk mixed with cereal. Mom thinks that I overloaded my tummy! I don’t believe her; I know I am sick! After I threw up I climbed down inside Mom’s shirt and went to sleep; I really don’t feel like myself! Mom’s skin feels cold to me; I think that I have a fever! Mom said I am hot because I am wearing my clothes and am inside her clothes. Nope, I’m sick!
Pray for me, I’m SICK!
