We left Tamale this morning at 7:00. I drove for the first hour or so because Steve was not feeling his best. After a little while he got to feeling like himself again and he drove the rest of the way. We arrived in Sunyani about 12:30. We had no idea where we were going or where the hotel was so Steve called Bro. Richard. He talked us through how to get to the church building. Once we were at the church building we met Felicia, one of the church members and she was kind enough to get in the truck with us and show us the way to the hotel. As it turns out the hotel is only a few miles away from the church building. The hotel is very nice and the air conditioner in our rooms is about to freeze us out. That is a good thing!
When we took Felicia back to the church building we saw a small shop that sold chemicals. Sunyani is in the middle of cashew and cocoa country. Steve went in the shop to ask the man what he recommended for the bugs that are attacking the mango tree. He sold us the same chemical that the people in this area use to spray their cocoa and cashews. While Steve was in the shop he spied a pruner with an extension pole. He was more than a little excited! You know how he loves to prune the trees and some of them have fire blight and they are too far up for him to reach. He is the proud owner of a pruner that can reach 13ft up in the tree; add that to the height he will get when he climbs a ladder and imagine what he can reach! Actually it sounds like a recipe for a “great fall”!
We spent the afternoon exploring Sunyani. We found the cultural center which was under renovations. We also found a large supermarket and bought some snacks for our return trip. I love to eat while I am riding! Mostly I just doze and nibble! I actually got a little work done on the trip. I sorted the receipts so they will be easier to enter into the excel program.
This hotel has a restaurant so we are going to give it a try and see how the food is.
Take care and thank you for your prayers!
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
