We have been hunting all over Yendi for bicycle tires. Steve gives the evangelists and church leaders new tires and tubes twice a year. He had planned on giving them to them tomorrow when they come in for the monthly class. He found the tubes but tires seem to be scarce. There are a couple different grades of tires; he found some of the cheap tires but he does not want to give them to the men because they will not last very long. He might have to go to “plan B” and buy them next time we are in Tamale and leave them with Timothy to be distributed while we are home for the holidays.
We set Mr. Iddrisu to ironing the shirts that we will give the preachers. I ironed the neck ties and Steve tied lots and lots of ties! The men do not know how to tie the neck ties so Steve ties them and they carefully take them off so they do not disturb the knots. He has close to 90 ties ready for the men. The men will be happy with the shirts and ties and they will have something new to wear to the seminar next month. We are trying to gather enough pre-tied ties to give but they seem to be hard to come by.
We had a new set of triplets come to the Child Center this morning; they were doing very well! There were 2 girls and one boy. They all weighed 3 kg. They were 6 weeks old. We asked the mother if she knew she was going to have triplets before they were born and she said that she knew because the doctor had done a scan and told her. The lady was a bit older; this makes 8 children. The triplets were number 6, 7 and 8.
We also had a very lean 3 month old baby come this morning that was tongue tied. Steve took them to the clinic to get it clipped. Around 2:00 Zorash called and said that they did not have any money and the clinic asked them to buy a folder and card before they would clip her tongue. The father was supposed to come and get the money for the folder but he never showed up so we do not know what is going on with the baby.
Amama did not come to work today because her son Mobari was admitted to the hospital. She stopped by for a few minutes this morning to let us know that she would not be coming to work and what was going on. She said that he had been vomiting and had a fever.
Thank you for all your help and everything you do for us and for the people in Ghana.
In His Service,
Stephen and Kandie
