Dauda, the mason had to come back this morning and rework the end of the cement wall.  When Steve cut down the Nim tree that is too close to the wall one of the branches fell on the wall and knocked a couple blocks loose and also one of the razor wire hangers.  When we got up this morning it was raining so we could not hang the razor wire but around 4:00 this afternoon it was cool enough for us to hang wire again.  We got almost all the wire hung.  We could not hang the section that Dauda worked on.  We do not have any full rolls of wire to hang; only a couple of small places and we will have to cut some of the wire to hang over the gates.

All the mothers that did not come for formula yesterday came today.  They said that they thought we would be closed because the children were out of school for the holiday.  We had a couple babies today that were very sick; Steve sent them straight away to the hospital.  There are no “doctor’s offices” in Yendi.  All the doctors practice through the hospital or a clinic.  No one is given an appointment; they just have to go and sit with a first come first serve system.  They could sit all day; if the doctor is not around they have to go and come.  Today was Amama’s day to go back to the clinic to have her blood pressure taken.  Last time she went she was there all morning and never came back to work.  This morning she told me that it was her day to go.  I told her to wait until closer to 12:00 to go; by then the early crowd of people would be gone and she would not have to wait so long.  Zorash agreed that waiting for hours to get your blood pressure taken was ridiculous!  She told her that she should not join the line of people waiting but she should just tell them that she needed her blood pressure taken and her prescription renewed.  We will see how long she had to wait when she comes to work tomorrow.

Abenada, John Kanbonja’s widow (John was one of the evangelists) came to the house this morning.  She and her son Micheal were sick.  She needed to renew Michael’s health insurance before they could see the doctor.  Steve gave her the money for the renewal.  The doctor treated them for malaria and gave Micheal some “Ben-gay” type ointment for the leg he hurt a week ago while he was swimming.  Micheal is such a baby we doubt that he will use the ointment more than once.  But maybe he will quit complaining about his leg hurting!

Please feel free to share the Yendi Notes with anyone that might be interested in the work.  Keep praying for us, please!

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
