It was tough leaving our kids and grandkids but then that is always the hardest part of this job!   I am homesick already!

It has been raining steadily all day.  Red, the part time driver, said that the rains have been coming about once a week.  He said that we brought them the heavy rain!  They like the heavy rains at this time of the year because it is good for the yam and cassava.  The farmers will be happy.  During this time of the year it can rain all day and all night.  We love the rain because it makes the temperatures much cooler.  Of course many of the roads will flood and it will be harder for us to visit some of the village churches.

When we came into Yendi we stopped at Red’s welding shop to take a look at the handicapped tricycle he is making for us.  He said that he started painting it.  Before we left we told him that the tricycle was for a teenage girl and that I wanted it to be a pretty color.  He said he got a pretty color; well please!  I asked Steve if Red was color blind!  The tricycle was a muddy beige color!  The only saving grace about that color was that dirt would not show up on it!  I told Red that I did not like the color and we would have to change the color.  As you can guess he had already bought a full gallon of the ugly paint.  We paid him for the paint he bought and then we went to the hardware store and bought a gallon of red paint.  I am not sure if Asana will like the red color but I do!

When we arrived at the mission house there was no water.  We thought that perhaps they had used all the water in the upper poly tank but Nazo said that there was a leak in the sink in Mr. Iddrisu’s office that they could not get to stop so they shut the water off at the main.  We asked Nazo why they did not cut the water off with the shutoff under the sink.  He said they tried but it would not turn off.  Obviously they did not know which way to turn the knob because they had the valve fully open.  We had no problem turning it off.  We were happy it was an easy fix!

We had to do some hunting and gathering this afternoon because Mother Hubbard’s cupboard was bare!  We bought eggs, bread, yams, oil, and toilet paper.

Mr. Oldman, our neighbor stopped by for a visit this afternoon.  All of his children are out of school; they are on their end of the year break.  We sent a bag full of candy and chewing gum home with him for the kids.  He said that Aslan, his youngest, will keep all the candy for himself.  He is a bit spoiled; I told Mr. Oldman that he would have to make him share.  He is the baby and he has 3 older sisters so I doubt he will have to do much sharing!

Steve got the tubs and suitcases unloaded and most of the stuff put away.

Take care and thank you for all the prayers.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
