We did not get to bed until 1:30 this morning and then we had to get back up at 3:00 so we could leave at 4:00 to be in Tamale in by 6:00 to buy our ticket to Accra. After we bought the ticket we went back into Tamale and sat in the parking lot of the auditor’s office. We had to sign the paper work for the Child Center’s annual return before we could fly down to Accra. The financial statement was not completely finished but enough of it was done so that we could go ahead and sign the paper work. Red will come back next week and pick up the finished copy. The auditor will turn one copy into the Registrar General and the other copy Mr. Iddrisu will turn into the IRS officer in Yendi.
Our flight out of Tamale was on time; while we were waiting to board we met an older couple that was trying to get out of Ghana. They said that they were flying from Accra to Amsterdam, then to Atlanta and on to Salt Lake City. They were flying KLM. While we were waiting to get our luggage they told us that their KLM flight had been cancelled. They wanted to know about the chartered flight that the American Embassy was organizing; when we told them that the cost for the flight we missed was $2000 each they were appalled and said that was not for them because they did not have that much money.
We waited all afternoon hoping that we would get a call from the embassy with details about the next flight but we heard nothing. Steve sent them an email but the response was a form letter. We did get an email that said they were able to get 305 people out of Ghana and back to the states today. They said that they knew more people were waiting to go; if and when a flight became available they would let us know. It does not sound all that promising to me because this notice was followed by a notice that the American Embassy in Ghana was shutting down for several weeks and would only answer emergency emails.
Thank you for all you do for us! We really appreciate the help.
Keep praying for us and the world.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
