The surveyors got here earlier than we expected. They were here about 6:30. Steve and I had just started down the lane for our morning walk when we saw them on their motorcycle. We turned around and went back to the mission house.
Steve drove them around Yendi to the various GPS points. Then he walked with them to the back of the property. The property is 12 acres but it is long and skinny and in the shape of an “L”. They finished with the actual surveying this morning. They will come back and make cement markers on all the corners with numbers for future reference. They also have to make a booklet of the property. We asked how long that was going to take and they said about 5 weeks. Please! We asked if we could speed up the process and they said 5 weeks was just an estimate; it could be 3 weeks. We did not pay them all the money this morning. We told them that we were afraid that if we gave them all the money it would be months and months before they finished the work. They laughed and agreed to take a partial payment.
Zorash and I went to town and bought the peanuts for the Protein Paste. Zorash’s mother will roast the peanuts for us. Her mother makes peanut oil and is an expert at roasting and not burning the peanuts. When she roasts the peanuts for us she makes a little extra spending money. After we bought the peanuts we dropped them off at her house.
Steve spent the afternoon at Kulkpeni for the first day of the monthly class. I worked on the books. Lucky me!
Mr. Iddrisu has started painting the woodwork in the main house. The oil paint stinks so bad it gives me a headache. The paint would not stink so bad if he did not use so much paint thinner. He loves his paint to be thin.
Steve stopped on his way out to Kulkpeni to check to see if the sign board was painted. He was pleased that they had painted it but they had one of the arrows painted the wrong direction. It is hard for them to realize that the arrows on both sides of the sign have to point at the building. They will fix the problem and have it ready tomorrow. When Steve paid the man for painting it he gave him back 20GH. He said that because it was for a church he was going to reduce the price. Isn’t that sweet?
Take care and have a great day!
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
