We were given the opportunity to visit the small congregation that is located in the village of Kpanjamba today. Kpanjamba is located north east of Yendi about 15-20 miles. I’d give you the exact distance but the odometer on the pickup doesn’t work. Ha!
On the way to the village we went through several deep depressions in the road. If it had rained heavily we would not have been able to get through to the village. We noticed on our way back to Yendi the “Harmattan” (dust from the Sahara Desert) haze had rolled in making the buildings in the distance look like they were covered with fog.
At Kpanjamba we were warmly greeted by the brethren. The congregation has a small building; we kindly asked if we could meet under the trees so we didn’t have to be in a confined area due to the threat of the coronavirus . The church members gladly went out under the trees where the worship service was held. I taught a lesson about church leadership as requested. The service went along well with Timothy Niligrini doing a fine job of interpreting for us. Included with the regular gift that we gave the congregation was a metal communion holder for the fruit of the vine. The plastic plate we had given them had broken leaving only holes for 5 or 6 cups. The brother who cares for the items said he was cleaning the plastic cup holder and tried to fling the water out of the holes when the holder broke into pieces. These fragile plastic trays are the reason we decided to make metal trays to give to the churches.
Last week a father of two young church brothers died of unknown causes. The Church had decided to use today’s collection to give as sympathy money to the family. We added some money to theirs; after questions and answers the whole church walked down the road to the funeral house to present the money and pay their respect.
Kpanjamba was proud of their handwashing station . They made their own stand for their “Veronica Bucket” so they had a little money left over which they used to purchase cement to plaster the inside of their church building.
When we got back into Yendi we started looking for sellers of plastic dishes. Timothy said his wife Rita requested additional bowls for the monthly class . Rita cooks for the class. The class is scheduled to meet this coming Friday so we needed to get this item marked off the list ASAP. We looked at 4-5 places before we were able to find what we needed.
That just about wraps it up for today. Hope you have a good Lord’s Day and may God bless!
In his service,
Stephen and Kandie Taylor
