This morning, we called Red to see if he could make the bottom locks for the main gates at Kulkpeni.  We told him that the mason hung the gates backward.  He said that he would go out and check the gates to see what size to make the locks.  Bless his heart; while he was out there, he flipped the gates around so they are hanging right.  Right now, they are not hanging level but I think we can fix that problem by cutting off part of one of the hinges.   I am going to call him in a few minutes and see if he is going to cut off the hinge or if we should bring our reciprocating saw and do it ourselves.  Red has a good eye for this type of thing so we know he is aware of the gates not being level.  With the slick side of the gates facing outward, it keeps the children from climbing on them and using them for a swing!  Today 6 teenage girls that were going to fetch water from the well behind the church property had their water buckets up on the wall and were fixing to crawl over the wall.  Steve told them not to climb over the wall.  When we first started the wall project ,we told Timothy that the ladies that fetch water would climb over the wall with their buckets; he laughed and said that it never would happen.  They got the rest of the footer dug and they closed the corner where the man had built his pig barn.  John, the mason, said that he hopes to get enough men working tomorrow so that they will be able to finish closing the property.  We hope they do not run out of blocks.

When Kwabena, the watchman, came to work tonight he said that his family was going to start the final funeral tomorrow.  He will not be able to come to work for a few days.  His brother was not a Christian so his family will be doing a traditional funeral.

Today was Yendi’s big market day; we only stopped for a few minutes.  I only needed a few things so it did not take long to dash into the market; pick out the vegetables I needed and be back in the van.  It was too hot to stay in the market very long!

Steve got the invitations for the seminar printed and addressed.  He will pass them out at class next Friday.  We have visitors that are going to come and help us with the work in November.  Perry and Gina Martin will be here to help during the seminar.  We can always use extra hands preparing for the seminar.  Perry is going to be the guest speaker.  We will also do a couple of VBSs while they are here.  Steve is working on the program so we talked to the Martins this afternoon to get a list of his topics.

Take care and have a wonderful weekend!

The Monkeyshines

Mom likes to do this thing with the grandkids that she calls “High Point”- “Low Point”.  They have to tell her the high point of their day and the low point of their day.

Well, the high point for me today was that I learned how to open the front screen door and let myself into the house!  Mom had me on a long leash so I could play on the veranda and in the front yard but I preferred to be in the house with Mom.  I went in and out of the door dozens of times and the door did not catch my tail not one single time!  I would climb to the top of the wooden door and sit so I had a bird’s eye view of what the parents were doing!

The low point of my day was the force feeding that I had to endure to take that nasty liquid Ivermectin.  It is a medicine that is supposed to control parasites; as if I would allow myself to have parasites!  How disgusting does that sound?  Well, they tried to hide it in fruit punch Kool-Aid but I could smell that stuff a mile away!  They tried it in Tang; then they mixed the 2 together!  I have to give them props for trying but it did not work.  Then before I knew what was happening Mom had me mummified in a bath towel and Dad was coming at me with a syringe of the straight Ivermectin.  I gagged, I foamed at the mouth, I flung my head from side to side and I tried to spit it out but, in the end, I had to swallow some of it!  I thought I was going to suffocate before Mom finally let me get up!  I had a near death experience!  I almost went into anaphylactic shock!  Once I was free of Mom’s death grip, I wiped my face all over the floor trying to get rid of that awful taste!

I am lucky to still be alive!
