After our walk this morning we packed some of the suitcases that we will take home.  Well, mostly I packed and Steve weighed.  You know that I am a determined packer!   I want to get every ounce that I can get in each piece of luggage!  The Delta agent that we talked to about luggage and the charges for luggage told us there had been a change to the amount of free luggage each passenger could take.  Previously because of our Silver status we each could take 3 pieces of checked luggage.  Delta has changed it so now with Silver status each person can now only take 2 pieces of checked luggage.  The agent was very kind to us and told us that she would make a notation on our reservation that is supposed to allow us to get the normal 3 pieces of luggage for our trip out of Ghana.  She said that the next time we fly we will only get 2 pieces if we retain our Silver status and if we don’t we will only be allowed 1 piece without an additional charge.  Me and all my heavy luggage is probably the reason they changed the policy.  Ha!  I am packing 3 pieces for each of us so we will see how it goes when we check in at the airport.  We only have 2 weeks left in Yendi so we have lots of stuff to get done.

This afternoon we went to town to buy the liquid Tylenol, multivitamins, glucose and Vitamin C that they will need in the Child Center while we are gone.  We still have not gotten our big shipment of formula from Nestles.  Steve talked to the contact guy last week and he said that it is still not available.   Well, this is not quite true because the store near Yendi Hospital got some a couple weeks ago.  Steve stopped at the store yesterday and the owner told him that she got her supply from a warehouse in Accra.  She told Steve that she would order 15 cases for the Child Center.  She said that it would be in Yendi by next week.  We are hopefully optimistic!  Steve is trying to decide if he wants to cancel his order with Nestles or just pack a bunch of it down.  I guess it depends upon the expiration dates.

We stopped at the pharmacy shop that is run by Mr. Adams; he told us that he has Glaucoma and that he is going blind.  He said that he cannot ride his motorcycle anymore and his son has to drive him from place to place.  He could not see well enough to write a receipt for the medicine that we bought from him.  That would have to be a bitter pill to swallow!

Take care and enjoy your weekend!

The Monkeyshines

When the parents went to town today they bought avocados.  You know they tried to get me to eat one last year when they were in season but I flatly refused.  Mom told me it was fruit but I don’t think she is right about that!  The thing had an odd texture; it was all mushy; it had no flavor and I could not make myself eat it!  Today’s was no better!  It was the same thing; soft and mushy!  It looked exactly like the last one; I wonder if Mom secretly froze the one she bought last year and is trying to trick me into thinking it is a new and delicious fruit!  Mom even made Dad pretend he was eating the avocado to try to trick me into thinking it was good!  I love limes!  They are one of my favorite things. I don’t care that they are sour.  Today after I rejected the avocado Mom put lime juice all over it and gave it back to me!  She turned her back to me while she was messing with my lime so I could not see what she was doing.  She then turned around and asked me if I would like some lime juice?  She almost fooled me but I am a clever little guy!  I kindly took the avocado that was disguised like a lime and licked off all the lime juice and threw the avocado on the floor!  I sure hope that is the end of it but I bet Mom won’t let it die; I bet she tries to feed it to me again!

I demand a stop to the “Avocado Trials”!
