Well, the salt water did not do much good for the bleeding fabric. Maybe if I had let it soak before I did the first washing it might have helped. I finally decided enough was enough, the water was a very pale blue color; I can live with that! I wish I had access to lots of vinegar; maybe a combination of salt and vinegar would work. We use vinegar when we are dying eggs.
A new 3-month-old orphan came to the Center this morning; her mother died 3 days ago at home. All the mother complained about was stomach pain. They said that this was not a new complaint, she had been complaining about stomach pain for years and had been to the doctor numerous times trying to figure out what was causing the pain. She has 3 other children. Her sister is going to take care of the baby. The baby was fat and fine; she was hungry when she got to the Center so the first order of business was to fill her tummy so she would stop crying. The Child Center does not use feeding bottles; we teach the caregivers to cup feed the babies. They use a flexible medicine cup. The baby took to the cup immediately; she drank all Meri mixed up and begged for more!
Steve worked on making copies of the charts and weighing papers that we use in the Center to keep records of those that come to visit. He made a bunch; we should not have to make any more copies until next year. He put them in a different filing system so there is less chance of them getting dusty and to try to keep the mice from getting to them.
Today was Yendi’s big market day. We really did not need much but I wanted to buy more of the fruit they call black berries. We know that they are seasonal; we wanted to buy enough to last for the next few months. We will freeze them; we are not sure how well they will freeze but they look like they will hold up pretty well if they are frozen.
Timothy stopped by this afternoon to pick up his pay packet and to pick up the food money for the monthly classes. The classes will be this Friday. He has to go to Tamale tomorrow so he is trying to get everything arranged before he goes.
Mr. Iddrisu got the small people gates painted that we will use at Kulkpeni. Red said that he is going to try to get the big gates painted in the next couple days. We will start the wall in a couple weeks. Timothy is going to be gone this week and we will be gone next week.
Thank you for the love, prayers and support!

I think the parents have forgiven me for getting into the file cabinet and tearing up some of the papers! Anyway, I hope they have; I know they have not forgotten about it yet but one day it will all be a distant memory!
I spent a good portion of the morning playing outside on the new run they made for me. I love it a lot and this morning it was particularly nice because Mr. Iddrisu was outside painting near me so I was not so lonely. I like Mr. Iddrisu and Donkey; they are my friends. They give me my bottle when Mom is not around. I am getting very good at not getting tangled up in the leash that dangles from the run. I am very smart; there is a staircase near the run that I can climb up and down. Before I jump down, I will pick up my leash and see which side of the railing it is hanging on and then I will go on that side of the rail so I don’t get tangled. I played for hours this morning without getting tangled!
I adore playing with Dad’s shoes; they are made out of some sort of rubber! Dad does not really like me to play with his shoes because he thinks I am going to destroy them and he does not want me to play with them! That is silly; he has multiple sets of shoes and he can only wear one set at a time so why can’t I have a pair to play with? If I wore shoes, I would let Dad play with them!
If you have an extra pair of shoes, I like the ones with shoe strings!
Love, Skeeter
