Steve left the house around 10:00 this morning and did not get back until 3:30. Today was the second day of the monthly class.  He said they had a rip-roaring discussion about fornication and adultery.  It is amazing that in a society that is so strict in some ways they do not seem to mind the young people having pre-marital relations with multiple partners.  Of course this is not just a problem of the young people it extends far beyond the youth.  I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall for that class!

It was very hot today, our high temperature was 116 degrees; which was good for me because I spent the day washing clothes.  It does not take sheets and bedding long to dry when it is that hot.  I was determined to get everything that had gotten dirty when they took off the roof washed today.  I am not sure how many loads I did because I lost count after the 5th load.  I thought I was finished but noticed a comforter on the couch.  I just left it for another day.

It is trying to blow up a rain and guess what?  The electricity is off!  Please just because it thundered it does not mean they need to turn off the electricity.  Once again we are proud to have a generator.  Steve has not turned it on yet because he is always hopeful that the electric company will turn it back on.  It has been a couple weeks since we have had rain and things are getting rather dry.  Maybe tonight will be our night for rain.

After Steve finished teaching class and got all the men dropped off at their bus stations we went to a naming ceremony.  Gomda, the guy that fixes our vehicles had a baby boy a few days ago.  Today was the baby’s naming ceremony.   They named him Abdulla-razek.  That is quite a mouthful for a little baby boy.  Gomda said that he was named after his father that recently passed away.  So sweet!  Today was also the day the baby was circumcised.  The Muslims circumcise their babies but sometimes the Konkombas circumcise and sometimes they do not.  We took the camera and took lots of pictures of the baby with the parents, grandparent, aunts and friends.  Everyone had a grand time.  We will make copies for them.  We also gave them some of the baby clothes you guys are so generous to donate to the work.

Take care and keep praying for us and the work.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
