It was not as hot today as it has been. The high temperature today was 109 degrees. The water in the reservoir had settled so we pumped water this afternoon. It took several hours to fill the biggest poly tank. We still have one poly tank that is empty but we will wait until the next rain to fill it. We had a terrible time getting the pump primed. We have about decided that there is a crack in the pipe that goes into the reservoir. I was soaked by the time we finally got it primed. Now I am not complaining! The water felt good.
We finally got the metal door for the guest round house with the thatch roof installed today. Mr. Iddrisu painted it a couple days ago and Dawda the mason came this morning and put it in. It looks good; of course he had to repair the damage we did to the cement opening when we took out the old door. Nazo will probably paint it tomorrow.
Mr. Iddrisu spent the day repainting the 4ft square metal water containers. We use the water containers for building projects. We like to keep them painted to prevent them from rusting. This morning I took all the left over scrapes of oil paint and mixed them together. We ended up with a very nice steel grey color. We used it to paint the inside of the containers. Of course the outside of the containers are red. I love red! All the tool handles are painted red as well as the large cook pots we use for outdoor cooking.
While Dawda was here we had him put the pickets back on the face of the mission house. Dad made a cement picket fence around the mission house to hide the cement gutters that are used for water collection. Over the years a few of the pickets have gotten knocked off. We lost quite a few last year when the carpenters were putting on the new roof. We were not able to find all the pickets but 95% of them are back on. We still have the picket mold so one day when we have nothing else to do we will make the rest of the picket.
The sign board painter has not finished the signboard for the Child Center yet. This sign is on the outside of the fence. When Red made it for us years ago we had him use small nuts and bolts to attach it to the frame that is cemented into the ground so that when we needed to repaint it we could dismantle the sign and take it to the sign painter. I love it when a plan actually works the way you imagine it!
Hope you have a great day! Keep the work in your prayers.
