Steve was gone most of the morning and part of the afternoon. Today was the monthly class for the evangelists and church leaders. Twenty-eight men came to the class today. The men reported 3 baptisms and 12 restorations. Steve’s class was about the men’s responsibility to the church. Timothy taught the first class and Steve taught the second class.

Edward, one of the church leaders from Bungbali is teaching a class for 6 of the teens in the congregation. Last time we were here he made an appeal for 6 English Bibles for his students. Steve accidently sent him 6 Konkomba Bibles. When he realized his mistake, he called Edward and told him to hold the Konkomba Bibles and when we come to visit them in March, we will bring the English Bibles.

We suspect that one of the babies that comes to the Child Center is blind; they went to Tamale to the hospital and the doctor there also thinks they might be blind and possibly deaf too. The doctor prescribed eyedrops for the baby (he is 15 months old). The father has not been able to find the eye drops in Yendi. This morning while Steve was teaching class I went to Yendi and went to all the larger drug stores but I could not find the drops either. The doctor wants the parents to drop 1 eye drop in each eye 3 times a day and then to shine a flashlight through a yellow cloth into the baby’s eyes for 5 minutes three times a day. We have never heard of such a treatment. They are to go back to the doctor next Thursday. The father may have to make another trip to Tamale to try to find the eye drops. This is the baby that they are trying to do the hearing test on but the baby won’t cooperate and go to sleep during his doctor’s visit. They will try again on Thursday.

I spent part of the afternoon sewing but I did not get as much done as I hoped to because I wasted so much time in town going from pharmacy to pharmacy!

Please continue to pray for us and the work; especially pray that all the evangelists and church leaders make it home safely.

The Monkeyshines

Today was bath day! Have I ever told you how much I hate getting a bath? Well, I do hate it! Mom says hate is not such a good word to use but really there is no better way to describe how I feel about a bath. This morning when Mom released me from prison, she said that I stunk; she said that I smelled just like rotten eggs and sulfur so nothing would do but I get a whole bath! Sometimes I get a partial bath; she just washes my hands, feet, face and tail but today it was a fully submerged bath! At least the water was warm; that is the only good thing I can say about it!

After my bath I was wild! I was attacking everything in sight! I repeatedly attacked the bath towel Mom was drying me with; I attacked my leash; I attacked one toy after the other; none of them were safe from me; I pulled the rubber shelving material off the counter where I sit while Mom is cooking. I pulled paper off the table and took stuff out of the garbage can! That bath made me WILD!

This afternoon was the best afternoon I have had in a long time! Dad was gone so I had all of Mom’s attention. She was not moving around; she was sitting in one place sewing. When I get tired, I like to snuggle up to someone and to take my afternoon nap. It is usually with Dad but when Mom is sewing, I go up behind her and grab her hair and pull her close to me so that she will take off my leash and I can crawl down inside her shirt and take a nap. I actually took 2 naps inside her shirt today!

Life is good!

Love, Skeeter
