Last Sunday evening the people who attended the bible study at Kulkpeni asked if I could present a lesson about dreams and visions today. That meant we didn’t have to rush. Kandie washed a load of clothes and I was able to get my lesson tweaked. We got a small amount of rain last evening which helped the morning to be cool. It was a good thing because the electricity kept going on and off at the church building so we didn’t have much air movement.
If a man has a dream about a snake biting him most villagers will tell the man to go to the fetish priest or a soothsayer to find a remedy to keep it from happening. The Fetish and the soothsayers feed off of this fear. It is their cash cow. These “diviners” are not happy when people are told not to believe in their ability to produce a remedy because it is cutting into their income. The soothsayers and fetish rely on the retelling of stories about how they have been able to predict and protect other clients. Of course, anything they do comes with a hefty price tag.
We continue to give the congregations we visit gifts like bread, juice, cups, bible , chalk, pads and pen, bench and today a soccer ball. While we were home this summer our local Walmart had reduced their soccer balls down to $5 each. We bought all they had (20+). I deflated them so Kandie could save space in our luggage. The men of the congregation enjoy getting together to play and have fellowship.
Tonight, at Kulkpeni, I was asked to lead class so I taught a lesson from John 6:26,27 where Christ told the people that some of them were following him because of the food and not the signs he had performed. Men are the same the world around; always wanting something but not willing to do the work the Lord has commanded for us to do to achieve it.
We will call it a day. Hope you had a good Lord’s Day. May God bless!
In His service,
