We are back in Tamale. We worshipped with the church at Sunyani this morning. They start service at 7:00 am. Can you imagine that? 243 people were in attendance this morning. I wonder how many people would come out for services if our started at 7:00? Steve taught the lesson this morning and as always he did a great job. The early time was wonderful for us because that meant that we were able to get away earlier than we expected and did not have to drive in the dark which made us very happy!
The hotel that we stayed at had a restaurant so before we left we order a pizza to eat on the way. There are no McDonalds or Hardees to stop at as we travel. We thought the pizza was good only because we have been here for so long! Ha! This was a vegetable pizza and one of the toppings was canned corn. Well, corn is a vegetable and we did order a vegetable pizza.
We stopped several times to take pictures. We saw the a group of the cutest little boys between the ages of 6 and 9 standing on the side of the road trying to sell some small land crabs they had caught. They had the crabs tied together with pieces of palm fronds.
We also passed a group of larger boys filling potholes. The road was riddled with potholes. Sometimes the villagers get out there with their shovels and fill the holes as a way of making a little pocket money. Whenever we see anyone doing anything to improve the road conditions we slow down and throw them out some money. Most of the time it is not safe to stop because of the traffic; today we were able to stop and hand the money to the boys. They were so excited because we gave them 1 Cedi for each of the boys. They were jumping up and down with excitement. The guy that took the money squeaked out a “Thank You”; he was deaf! How wonderfully heartwarming that was! I told Steve that I felt like going back and giving them more money!
We arrived in Tamale shortly after 5:00pm. The hotel knew we were coming so our room was ready for us. We had a nice Indian meal at the hotel restaurant and it is now time for bed. So I will say “Good-night”.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
