This is the last Sunday in October and I don’t know where the time as gone. We had a long trip today to the village of Juanayili. This is one of two new congregations that were started about a month ago.  There were three congregations having a joint service with us there this morning. The names of the other two congregations were Binalodo and Simiboma.  This area is in the Nanumba District south of Yendi. It takes two hours to get to the village.  Brother Waja Francis has been working with the three Churches. We stopped at Simiboma on the way to pick up some of the Church members.   The people were not ready; we had to wait 30 minutes.  Francis had requested that we   bring the old van to transport the people.   Not far from our destination we encountered a hill where the road was rutted, narrow, and rocky.  Seeing what was before us I started to lament that I hadn’t brought the 4 wheel drive pickup instead of the van.

Before we started the service we were sitting in a school room that was very hot.  Kandie asked me if we could move out under the mango trees where there was a nice breeze blowing. Timothy asked the men if they minded if we moved outside and they were in agreement. I think they were happy we wanted to be outside.  It was so much more comfortable.

All three of these congregations are very young but I still preached my “padlock & key” lesson.  The purpose of our visit was to encourage the congregations.  There were one hundred seventeen people present for the worship.  Eighty-one of those people were adults.

The people had lots of questions after services; many of them dealt with marriage and polygamy.   There are many excuses men use to take another wife but it doesn’t stop with the men.  We have found out some of the women will encourage their husbands to take another wife so  they can have power to make the new woman do whatever the first wife want her to do.

Before leaving we were presented with some nice yams and a guinea fowl.  We made a big ado of their gift. We also send kola with one of the brothers to be given to the chief of the village.

That’s it for today. Hope you have a good Lord’s Day!

In His service,

Stephen and Kandie Taylor
