I am quite perturbed! I got up at 5:00 this morning so I could make quilt blocks before other things got in the way. I made about 50 blocks when I realized that I had sewn them all together wrong. I reversed the light and dark colors. It took me longer to take them apart than it did to sew them together. Needless to say I am back to where I started this morning.
This morning we finished hanging the razor wire. It is good to have that project behind us. Nazo is now talking about the need to do something to keep people from crawling over the cement picket fence on the front of the property. That is going to be a little more difficult but we have an idea that we will run past Red to see if it is doable.
The metal doors and windows were ready to be picked up from the welder so we got them and took them straight to Kpamang. Kpamang is about 10 miles from Yendi if you take the short road but the short road is in such bad shape we are afraid the pickup would get stuck so we go the long way around which is about 15 miles. Divine had gone to work in his farm this morning. We saw his wife Gladys, the chief and one of the other men. We left the doors, windows, paint and brushes in the church building. Divine does not want to paint the doors until after the mason has installed them. The doors looked good but once again there was a “language barrier”. We told him that we did not want locks with keys; we wanted a hasp and a padlock. We got locks and keys. We told him that we did not want a window in the doors but we got windows in the doors. The church members will love the idea that they have locks and keys but we know that the locks are so cheap that they will not last long. Divine will be happy that they have a lock and key because the lock and key are more expensive than a padlock.
Mr. Oldman ,our neighbor stopped by for a visit this afternoon. We told him that the large poly tank was leaking around the pipe that exits the tank. We asked him if he knew someone that repaired poly tanks. We have plumbed it twice and it still has a slow leak. Mr. Oldman said that he wants to try and fix it himself. He volunteered to climb inside the tank and add a washer and RTV to the inside of the tank. Maybe that will work. We have to get it done before the rain stops so we can harvest a full tank of water to see us through the dry season. The tank still has some water in it but we hope to use it all next week.
My iron caught 2 outlet adapters on fire. We took it to Mr. Adams, the fix-it man. He said that we should not use the adapters. He removed the plug that needed the adapter and put on one that will fix directly into the socket. Hopefully that will fix the problem. I sure would hate to burn down the mission house!
Thank you for all the love, prayers and support.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
