We got rain!  We have not had any in almost 2 weeks which is unusual for us at this time of the year.  This is our rainy season and it should be raining at least every other day.  Traditionally September is the month when we get the most rain.  It is raining in other places in Ghana; just not in our area.  Nana Bekum came in for the monthly classes; he lives in the Chereponi area; he said that they were getting too much rain and there was flooding and some of the crops were spoiling.  It seems we can never be happy with the weather; either we are getting too much of something or too little.

Today was the first day of the monthly classes for the church leaders and evangelist.  Steve went out this afternoon to visit the brothers and teach class.  Before he left we went to the lumber yard and picked out the facial boards for the church building at Kulkpeni.  Some of the facial boards are rotten and a couple piece of tin have come loose.  We left the boards with the men at the lumber yard to straighten and plane.  We want to get that roof problem taken care off before a big wind comes and does more damage.  Steve was going to pick up the boards on his way back in from class but when I heard it thundering I quickly got a piece of rope and headed to the lumber yard.  I knew that if it started to rain the men would close up shop and go home.  We need the boards so Nazo can paint them tomorrow.  The guy running the lumber yard was very kind and loaded and tied the boards for me.  He was surprised that Steve did not come to pick them up.

Zorash went back to the bank this morning to try and solve the problem with her savings account.  She has not been feeling well; today she said that maybe she had Malaria because she was cold and shivering; lots of things besides Malaria can cause you to have a fever.

A very small 3 pound baby was brought to the Center this morning.  It was a little boy that was 3 weeks old.  The mother was on admission at the clinic near the mission house.  She is a first time mother; she complained of stomach and body pain.  The clinic asked us to help the baby with some formula.  Hopefully when the mother is well the baby will get stronger.  The grandmother was so happy about the very small preemie clothes we gave them and the blanket.  This family came from the village and the baby was wrapped in rags.  We suspect that the baby was born at 7 months but we have no way of knowing for sure because they did not bring their information from the hospital.  When they come again they are supposed to bring it with them.

Take care and have a great day.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
