Timothy Niligrini was not here today because he had the tailor’s association thing in Tamale so Steve had to choose another man to interpret for him.  Steve and Timothy make a fantastic team when it comes to teaching and interpreting.  Timothy has been interpreting for Steve for more than 15 years and their teaching flows nicely.  Today Steve asked Kwabena, one of the night watchmen, to be his interpreter.  There are several men that are capable of interpreting but sometimes Steve’s accent is hard for some of them to grasp.  Steve said Kwabena did a great job.  The lesson today was an easy one to interpret; it was part of the story of Joseph.  Steve said that the section about the dreams and the interpretation of the dreams was of particular interest to the men because of the Juju (witchcraft) and the influx of “prophets and faith healers” that have taken over Ghana’s religious scene.  The story generated many questions.

Since Timothy was not around to help pay the transport, sell communion juice and Bibles and distribute the gifts Steve asked me to come out and help.  Last time Steve distributed the tires and tubes I went to help.  I fussed at the men about not standing in a line and crowding around my table!  I really did not think they listened to me but today I was proud that when they came to my table they stood in a line!  They can be taught!  I am not sure if they stand in a line for Timothy and Steve when I am not there but today, we had a line!

I only went out to Kulkpeni just before lunch time so I had time at the house before I left to start the preparations for lupper (that meal between lunch and supper).  On class day we do not eat until 3:00pm and then we bypass supper.  Chicken pot pie was on the menu today!

Twenty-eight men attended the monthly class today and they recorded 14 baptisms with 6 people being restored.  One of the church leaders had to join a canoe to get to class today!  How many of us would attend a class if we had to ride a bicycle to the river side; put our bicycle in a canoe and then ride 10 miles to get to the class!  I might do it one time but not again!  Ha!

We can not visit some of the congregations we wanted to because the water has flooded the roads.  Some of the men did not get to come to class because of the water.

Today is our grandson Parker’s birthday!  He is 15 years old and he got his permit today!  What a happy day!  Sure wish we were there to celebrate with him!

Have a good weekend!

The Monkeyshines

Mom had to work on her bookkeeping this morning so she decided to work outside so I could play outside!  She brought her computer and a small table and set it up on the veranda where my run is.  I like to be outside but I don’t like to be outside by myself; it is too scary!  Mom set her table up far enough away from me so I could not grab anything!  Now what fun is there in that?  Mom left me and I about had a “come apart”!  I thought she was gone for good but she just went to get bug spray; she said the mosquitos were trying to carry her away!  Now, just between you and me, I have seen a mosquito and I have seen my Mom and there is no way the mosquitos could carry her away!  One of those big hawks might get her but not a mosquito!

I refused to drink my bottle this morning so when the parents came back from Kulkpeni I was starving!  I gulped down the whole thing and then ate a banana.  I have been snacking all afternoon!  I am making up for missing my breakfast!

I had to go in the time out box today!  Mom was napping and I woke her up by biting her foot!  It was just lying there on the bed; she was barefoot and it was more than I could stand!  I just had to take a bite out of it!  I did not hurt her but she was awake in an instant!  You would think that if you woke someone up it would take them a moment to gather their bearings but, No! not my mom!  She was off that bed and had my leash unhooked and had me shoved into that time out box before I knew what was happening to me!  For a big woman she is quick on her feet!

Don’t Mess with Mom!
