We are still distributing clothes in the Child Center.  When we start giving away clothes, we try to have enough on hand to last for 2 weeks because the mothers are supposed to come back to the Center every 2 weeks so we can keep an eye on the babies’ weights.  If we only distributed for 1 week almost ½ the mothers would not get a chance to get a set of clothes for their children.  We are beginning to run out of some of the larger sizes of boy clothes but we should have enough to finish out the week.  Our week in the Child Center is short because it is only open 4 days a week.

This morning Steve talked to Donkey and organized a “field trip” for us and the workers after the Child Center closed for the day.  We heard about the solar farm that someone is building on the outskirts of Yendi and we wanted to go and see what it looked like.  Donkey said that he had been there a couple times with the Ya-Na (king of Dagbon) when they first started the project.  We were happy that Donkey had been there before so he could be our guide.  A “field trip” is not complete without snacks of some sort!  All the workers including the ladies wanted to go.  Before we loaded into the old van we gave everyone a mango drink and a package of coated peanuts.  I personally think the snack was the best part of the trip!  It only took us about 15 minutes to get to the solar farm.  The place is huge; there are solar panels by the hundreds!  The facility has its own substation; they have already installed the transformer.  They are also building several story buildings.  We presume they are for offices and housing for the workers.  The road to the facility is paved; it is nicer than 90% of the roads in Yendi.  Everything was very impressive.  Steve said he is going to go on “Google maps” and see if a recent picture of Yendi has been taken so he can see how many acres of land the project is consuming.  A chain link fence with razor wire surrounds the whole property.

Steve spent part of the afternoon working on the monthly report.  That means the end of the month is almost here and I had better get busy and enter the receipts.  The taxes will be due the first week of August.

Some of our kids and their families are traveling this week; we would appreciate if you kept Aaron and Marcus and their families in your prayers.

The Monkeyshines

I might have to go back to that vet because I don’t feel fine!  I think that it is the after effects of that Ivermectin shot that I got yesterday.  I have not felt like eating anything all day!  Mom kept shoving that bottle in my face!  I bet she tried to give me that bottle every 30 minutes all day long!    All I can say is that she is persistent; but her persistence is very annoying to someone that does not feel well!   Please! Cereal and milk are the last thing I want to eat when I feel poorly!  She was able to temp my taste buds this afternoon with watermelon (I ate a couple pieces); I also ate a couple pieces of boiled yam; I ate most of a banana (it was a very small one) and I drank a small amount of water but other than that I just want someone to hold me and let me sleep!  You know Mom thinks I am going to die of starvation!  Poor Dad, he is the worry wart; he thinks I might have some communicable disease that I am going to give to the whole family!  Well, I am not that sick yet!  If they would stop giving me dewormer I would be fine!

I don’t have much else to say today; I am tired so I am going to take another nap!

Pray for me to feel better tomorrow!

Love, Skeeter
