Today was the second day of the monthly class.  Timothy taught the first session and he talked about church growth especially zoning in on how to get people to be more generous with their giving.  That seems to be a problem that churches all over the world have.   Timothy asked Steve to talk about witchcraft and Juju.  He wanted him to bring all the tricks that he took to the seminar in Wa earlier this month and show the brothers how easy it is to trick someone into believing that a trick is real.  Steve said everyone loved the demonstration.  We gave Moses one of the church leaders a ride home after class and he laughed said that today was his first time to see a “white” man do Juju.  He did not know that Americans could do magic.

Last year we bought vest for all the men that come to class.  They are not dressy vests; they are sort of like hunting, fishing sporty type vests.  They have lots of pockets and most of them are vented at the back so they will be cool.  The men enjoyed getting the vests.  Steve tries to do something nice for the men because they are not on payroll and still they preach and teach.

It was terrible hot today; the high temperature was 119 degrees with a heat index of 141 degrees.  The humidity was higher today and sometimes that means we are going to get some rain.  We sure need rain to cool things off.

Simon Madan was able to make it to class today but the other man, Edward, from his area was not.  He said that Edward was watching their stuff.  He said that the Chokosi attacked them while they were trying to move their personal belongings from their village to a safer village.  He said that they burned most of their stuff and that one of his brothers got shot in the leg.  He took his brother to the hospital in Saboba and he is staying with him until he is discharged.  Simon said that he is planning on leaving the village because it is not safe to go to the fields to farm because they could be attacked at any time.  He said that if things do not cool down no one will be able to farm and everyone will be hungry next year.  He said that many of the tractors in that area have been burned which is going to make a serious shortage of farmable land this year.  Please keep this area in your prayers.  We are not in any danger at the moment; the fighting is about an hour and half away from Yendi.  The fight started over a 2 acre piece of land that neither tribe was supposed to be farming.  We are anxious to hear that Daniel and Simon got home safely.

I spent the day writing reports and catching up on the paper work.  Boring!

Take care and keep us in your prayer.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
