I spent the afternoon working on the payroll for the next few months.  We have to leave enough money here to pay the workers and evangelists plus we have to buy enough supplies to run the Child Center until we get back.  I got one month done this afternoon.  Steve spent the afternoon working on the annual Social Welfare report so the Child Center can be renewed for another year.

This morning we were paid a visit from Mr. Alhassan, the Social Welfare man.  He is so kind to us.  He really cares about the people he is trying to help.  He brought the cover letter for the Social Welfare report.  We cannot turn the report in without a letter from Social Welfare and a copy of the audit.  We hope to have it finished by the time we leave because it is due in August.  It is rather strange; our fiscal year runs from May 31 to June 1st but the certificate expires in August.  Once a long time ago they lost our report after we turned it in so we had to resubmit it.  When we got the new certificate the expiration date reflected the time the report was lost.

Zorash was not here today.  Friday was African Union day and we were not around so the workers did not get their holiday.  Mr. Iddrisu opted to get holiday pay for his holiday and Zorash needed to go to Tamale today so she took her day today.  We are not sure what the other workers are going to do about taking their day off.

Several serious ill children came to the Center this morning.  One of the mothers gave birth to a set of triplets but one of them died.  The other 2 are very small and rather weak.  The littlest one had a serious cough.  The mother did not have health insurance for the children and she did not have the money to take them to the hospital.  Steve gave her the money she needed; she was so grateful!  I can’t imagine having a sick child and not having the means of taking them to the doctor.

Timothy’s (the evangelist) motorcycle would not start today so he hired a motor king to haul it into Yendi to the mechanic.  It needed new pistons and rings of course we helped him repair it.  It is one of the perks of his job.  They were able to finish the work this afternoon.

We got a very small rain this afternoon.  The crops are getting dry in our area and the farmers are worried.  Maybe we will get more rain later tonight.

Take care and thank you for all your help!

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
