Another day of the seminar is finished. Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves. Marcus and I were on bread duty this afternoon. We picked up 250 loaves of bread that had been baked in charcoal ovens. When we gave the bread to Matthew (one of the men in charge of the cooks) we were told that they needed more soap to wash the dishes and they needed wire scrubbers. We turned around and went back to the mission house and picked up the things they needed. We missed most of the afternoon session.
One of the ladies from Jagrido got sick. Daniel the church leader from Jagrido asked me to check on the lady. He said that she had collapsed. Naturally I thought the worst! When we got to her she was standing up getting dressed; she had just taken her a bucket bath. She said she was having a hard time breathing and that her chest felt like it was full of hot pepper. She said she wanted to go to the hospital but that she had left her insurance card at home. Her husband had gone home to get it. He was riding a motorcycle. Jagrido is not very far away from Kulkpeni but it probably takes a ½ hour to get there and back when is daytime. It will take longer in the dark. I told her that we would take her when she was ready to go. I asked Daniel if he thought we should go to the hospital or wait for her husband to come back. He said he had already told the lady that she should go back with the rest of the people and listen to Bro. Steve’s lesson. Now, I thought that was rather dumb! I got her a chair and waited for them to decide what to do. Finally about an hour later they decided she should go to the hospital and wait there for her husband. Marcus drove us to the hospital. We tried to get a patient folder and get the process started but no one was in the office because it was time for the Muslims’ evening prayers; everyone had gone to pray. One of the church brothers had come with us to wait with the lady; I gave them some money and left.
Marcus and I then went out hunting and gathering our supper. We bought a grilled guinea fowl and some grilled beef. Earlier we had purchased bread, mangoes and a pineapple. When we got to the house I made potato balls with the left over potatoes, corn and peas.
Steve is busy making copies of the churches yearly accounts. Divine has been busy helping the churches get their accounts in order so they can do their annual returns. We hope to get a jump start on them this year.
Please pray for the family of Joe Laxson; we got word yesterday that Joe passed away. Joe will be missed by all who knew him.
In His Service,
Steve, Marcus and Kandie
