Yendi Notes

We have a little time to kill at the hotel before Bizmarck sends the van to pick us up and take us to the airport.  We have to be there several hours early because it takes them forever to check everyone’s documents and get everyone checked in for the flight.  At least the electricity is on and the room is cool.

While we were out this morning someone called Steve and told him that they had sent money to his MTM (phone) account and that it had been sent by mistake and he wanted him to send it back to him.  Steve told him that he had the wrong number but he would not listen to Steve; there was a bit of a “language barrier” problem too.  Steve handed the phone to the taxi driver and he told him in no uncertain terms that it was a “scam” and he would be reported.  When we got to the hotel Steve received a message from the same number that said his account had been blocked.  Steve called the MTN office and they affirmed that it was a scam and that his account had not been blocked.  Steve turned around and reported the number to their fraud office.

We forgot to tell Nazo and Mr. Iddrisu to cut a “fire belt” around the electric poles on the back part of the property.  Without the fire belt the poles will get burned down when they set the fields on fire.  We do not burn the fields and Mr. Iddrisu and Nazo do not burn the fields but every year someone crawls over the wall and starts the fields on fire so they can catch all the small animals that live on the property.  If the men catch them they run them out but by that time the fires have already been started.  It is annoying that we can’t keep people off the property.  Steve called Nazo yesterday and reminded him to make the fire belt.

Steve talked to Timothy Niligrini, the evangelist too.  He had been successful in getting his driver’s license renewed and he also got the screen on his lap top fixed.  He was not sure how it got broken; he said he did not drop it but it’s case was seriously scuffed up.  He has 3 small kids so who knows what happened to it.  We helped him get it fixed.  He was happy to have it up and running again.  He does a lot of his lessons on it.

We will be back in Alabama tomorrow afternoon at 1:30pm.  The kids will be in school so they won’t be waiting at the bottom of the escalator jumping up and down waiting on us which will be sad but they will all come to the house after school and we will have a “pizza party” before church.

Keep us in your prayers during the rest of our trip.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie

P.S.  Our friend Jimmy Stroud fell again and is in the hospital.  Please say a special prayer for him and Mary.
