The roofers are gone! Hoorah! We were so happy that they finally finished the work. There are a few imperfections but I guess that is to be expected with any project. For the most part we are well pleased with the results. The project is by no means finished but we can see the end! This afternoon Abochi sent a motor king to pick up his scaffolding. He thought that they were going to pick up the extra tall scaffolding that he made from for this job with the lumber we bought for the job but he was mistaken. We don’t mind if he has the scaffolding after we are finished with it. We still need it for the electrician. He will have to hang the ceiling fans in the vaulted ceiling in the living/dining rooms in both the main house and the apartment. We might even have to have the scaffolding when we are painting.
Steve and Mr. Iddrisu started painting the living/dining room in the main house this morning. Mr. Iddrisu flaked out this afternoon because his back started hurting him. After lunch Steve and I continued painting. Around 4:30 Mr. Oldman our neighbor stopped by for a visit to check on the progress of the work. He saw us painting and immediately picked up a brush and container of paint and started helping us. We were grateful for the help. We got most of the room painted; we still have to trim around the ceiling which will be the hardest part and paint above the stationary display cabinet. Hopefully Mr. Iddrisu will feel like painting tomorrow. We gave him some pain medicine for his back. If not he can sit and work in the Child Center and Zorash can come to the main house and help clean.
Divine called last night and told us that he was going to run out of roofing sheets so as soon as we finished our bicycle ride this morning we loaded up 8 more sheets of tin and some extra lumber and headed out to his house. He did not know we were coming because the telephone network to his village is terrible and Steve could not get in touch with him to tell him we were bringing him more tin. He was so very happy to see us when we came bearing gifts! He lost the roofs of both of his round houses. The carpenter had one finished and it looked very nice. Maybe by now they have finished the other one. Our thanks go out to all of you who give us money for “whatever comes up”!
We found out our grandson Taylor has pneumonia. The doctors think most likely he fainted because of poor oxygen exchange. They ran a lot of tests and so far everything looks good. Thank you for your prayers.
It is 7:30 and we have not had supper yet so I will close for now. Please continue to pray for us and for the work.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
