We are in Accra.   We flew down this afternoon.  We left the mission house this morning at 7:00 so we would have time to do a little shopping in Tamale before we got on the airplane.  Marcus and Evan got some nice things; and of course I also found some things to buy.  I almost always find something to buy!  Today I bought baskets.  I left the things I bought in the van to go back to Yendi.  Before we left Tamale we stopped at Kentucky Fried Chicken and got lunch before we left Tamale.

Bismark was waiting for us when we arrived in Accra.  Bismark is the van driver who usually transports us to and from the airport.  As soon as we off loaded our luggage we hailed a taxi and headed for the “Wild Gecko”, a shop that sells crafts and carvings.  We hired the taxi driver to wait for us and then to take us on to the pet store.  We needed to buy Skeeter a crate.  We found a  plastic dog carrier that we think will work.

We also went to the FOREX and changed dollars into Cedis before we walked down to the Chinese restaurant.  By the time they got our food prepared we were starving.  Poor Evan was the last person to get his food.  The food was delicious as always and we had to get carry out boxes to put the leftovers in.

When we got back to the hotel /apartment our room was not cool.  We tried to adjust the unit but it just was not cooling.  We talked to Samuel, the night man; he could not get the unit to come on either.  He finally helped us move to another room.

Please keep us in your prayers as we travel.

 The Monkeyshines

I just finished reading Mom’s Yendi Notes; I guess she is serious about this “Time Out” thing for biting!  My Aunt Cathy sent Mom an article about training monkeys to stop biting by putting them in time out as soon as they bite!  I can tell you right now that I can’t like this new idea!  It is going to hurt my feelings to be put in time out!  I think I will cry and pout!  Aunts are great and all but I wish Aunt Cathy had kept this idea to herself!  But if it helps me learn to control my biting, maybe it will be ok!  You know one day I am going to be a full grown monkey with lots of biting power and when I am grown I will have canine teeth that are almost an inch long.  A bit from a full grown monkey can be dangerous!  So we will try this new plan and see how it works.

When the parents and Uncle Marcus and my nephew Evan left the mission house this morning Mom did not even look at me!   I jumped all over my jail cell and called and called trying to get her attention but she never made eye contact with me!  She never even said “Good Morning Skeeter”!  I know that she was sad about leaving me again and could not bear to look at me because she knew that I was giving her the “Stink-eye”!

I Can’t Like Time Out!

Love, Skeeter
