A couple of the brothers from Niliyuundo came to the mission house this afternoon. We had Timothy call them to let them know that we did not have their paperwork. Well, come to find out they had given it to me on class day. We took the scanner/printer with us so we could make copies and return their documents immediately. Either I gave it back to them without making a copy of it or I lost it between Kulkpeni, where we had the classes, and the mission house. Of course we apologized profusely for them having to make the trip into Yendi but we still need the document. They were gracious and said that they would call Timothy tomorrow with the information. We gave them money for phone units to call Timothy and we gave both men their transport money plus a nice gift for coming. They were all smiles when they left the mission house.
The presidential election is all the Ghanaians can think about. The politicians are out in force. One of the ways the politicians campaign is by buying motorcycles for their strongest supporters. At the rallies the politicians fuel the motorcycles and the riders take off the mufflers and drive around the towns like crazy people. The motorcycles are so loud that you can hear them coming from a mile away. They do stunts with the motorcycles; ride standing up; passengers will ride backward. I saw one in Yendi that was lying on his back on the seat while kicking his feet in the air while the passenger was reaching over the guy steering the motorcycle. Every year riders die at the rallies. The election is this coming Monday.
I finished the quilt top. It only has 753 different pieces of fabric; I was hoping for more but when I changed the design it changed the number of pieces I needed. It looks so much better than I thought that it was going to look. I was afraid the stars would disappear because of the busy fabric but you can see each one. This morning Zorash went with us to town; we took the quilt top to the seamstress that sold us the big bag of fabric scraps. We knew she thought we were crazy for buying all her bits and pieces; we wanted to show her what we were making. She was so surprised; she said she wanted to learn how it was done.
The mason’s will finish plastering the wall of the building tomorrow and start on the floors. Dawda said he was going to finish before Election Day!
Take care and have a great day!
