This morning we closed the Child Center at 10:00 so we could go visit the Regent; the acting chief of the Dagombas.  We needed to see him about the land.  We were surprised when we got to the palace; we saw lots of vehicles and visitors.  The Regent has a camera so he can see who is in the court yard.  He saw us and sent a message that we should return tomorrow because he would not be able to give us an audience today.  President John Mahama was coming to visit him.  President John Mahama was Ghana’s last president.  We feel certain he will run again.  The palace had heightened security today; the military men were posted all around the palace.  We did not even enter the palace grounds; we just turned around and came back to the mission house and re-opened the Child Center.

It is raining heavily and the electricity keeps going on and off.  We will give it a little while to calm down before we turn on the generator.  It is unusual to get these heavy rains this late in the year.

This afternoon Zorash brought a lady, Miriam, to the mission house to show us how to make Pin-Kaa-So.  If you remember a few days ago I told you about the fried doughnut type bread that we tried for the first time.  The fried bread had onions and hot peppers; it was rolled in granulated sugar when it came out of the hot grease.  Delicious!  We bought the ingredients last week in hopes that a man Zorash knew would show us how to make it.  He told Miriam to show us how it was made.  Her English was not perfect but Zorash was there to interpret.  Amina, Nazo’s wife was still here so we invited her in to learn to make it too.  We had a great time.  While we were sitting waiting for the bread to rise I told Miriam the story of Moses.  They had never heard the story and sat listening like they were small children.  The Pin-Kaa-So turned out perfectly.  We all had a hard time trying to drop the sticky dough into the hot grease with our hands.  I tried to use a funnel but it did not work.  Some of the pieces were very ugly but they all tasted the same.  Every year we make doughnuts for the folks at Bethel; this might be a new flavor for some doughnuts this year!  Ha!

Mr. Iddrisu called late this afternoon to let us know that he got his new driver’s license and that he did not have to pay any extra because it was late.  He made it safely back to Yendi.

Steve spent part of the afternoon working on the monthly report.

Thank you for all you do for us.  Please keep us and the work in your prayers.

In His service,

Steve and Kandie
