We woke up to a sun-shiny day. As soon as we finished our walk we started washing clothes. It took us until noon to get all them washed. We had lots of extra stuff because when we leave we use bath towels and sheets to cover all the tables, bookcases, computers, printers and anything we don’t want to be covered with dust when we come back. I am seriously considering changing out the windows in the mission house. Right now the windows are those louvered windows you see mostly in trailer houses. Even when they are closed the wind blows the dust right inside the house. We have plywood over the windows in the master bedroom to keep the dust out. I don’t know how those people lived through the dust bowl.
Steve trimmed more bushes today and Nazo sprayed the compound for weeds. We had several visitors today. Mr. Oldman our neighbor stopped by. He has a little boy that attends pre-school. He loves to come with his dad to visit us because Steve always gives him a little treat. He did not get to come this morning so we sent him a few matchbox cars as a gift. He will be excited when he gets them. Mr. Abdulla also stopped by. He is the guy that works through the VELD (motor vehicle) office in Tamale. Occasionally he helps us register some of the vehicles. He had heard that robbers had attacked the mission house and he wanted to extend his sympathy and offer advice as to how we should solve the problem.
This afternoon we went to visit Boat, the guy that repairs refrigerators, freezer and air conditioners. We wanted to buy a refrigerator that could not be repaired. We plan on securing the new safe for Mr. Iddrisu’s office inside the refrigerator. If someone enters his office they will not see the new safe; only the old “dummy” safe and a dilapidated refrigerator. If they want to carry off the safe they will have to carry the refrigerator too. Boat said that he had several but he wanted us to wait until Monday to get it. I think that he wants to have plenty of time to remove any usable parts. If a thief really wants something there is little that we can do to prevent it but there is no need to leave it laying around on a silver platter for them.
Thank you for all you do for us and for the work. We really appreciate the help.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
