They started digging the pit for the first toilet this morning. John hired some men to uproot the bushes that were used for many years to demarcate the land. We had to hire a motor king to haul the roots across the property and put them in an old pit. Years ago, when we built the first building, we harvested the gravel from the church property which left a huge pit. When the road contractors were working on the road, we bought several loads of gravel to fill that pit but the dump truck drivers were afraid to get too close to the pit so they dumped them around the edges; later we hired a dozer to push the gravel in the pit; he was afraid he would get stuck so he did not do much. There is still lots of gravel around the edges of the pit but we have no means except manpower to level the pit so we will fight that battle another day! John thinks they will get the pit dug today and hopefully tomorrow they will start the second pit and start molding the blocks. The gravel they are digging out of the toilet pit looks good so it should make nice strong blocks. Our truck load of gravel that we bought still has not come so we are on to “Plan B”. We counted the blocks that have been set this morning and paid John for the work he has done thus far. We are almost out of blocks so the work on the wall will probably stop tomorrow or the next day. The neighbor’s son started taking down the pig barn this morning! We are happy to see that smelly thing go! Timothy Niligrini is the one that talked to the neighbor’s son. He could not talk to the owner because he had gone somewhere; there has been no talk of us having to pay for the pig barn but we would not be surprised if that is not the next thing we face.
Our waterbed has sprung a leak! Yes, for those of you who do not know we sleep on a waterbed and we love it! My parents brought the waterbed over in a container around 2000 and it has been in use ever since. We replaced the mattress once and have patched it many times. We had to drain about half of the water out of the bed so we could put on the patch; we are just happy that we are still in the rainy season and have lots of water to spare! We will be sleeping in the spare bedroom tonight! We dread it because the mattresses are so hard! At least the air conditioner seems to be working well so we will sleep cool! Hopefully the patch will stop the leak!
Enjoy the weekend!

The Monkeyshines
This morning Mom told Donkey that she wanted him to haul gravel from the burn pile, which is mostly gravel, from the yard and bring it up near my jail cell. The roots from the trees in front of my prison are sticking out of the ground; some of the root rising is just the nature of the trees and the rest is erosion. Some of them are sticking 6 inches out of the ground. Mom says that she is afraid that she is going to trip over a tree root in the night when she comes out to give me my last bottle of the day. Just between you and me I don’t really think she is afraid that she is going to trip; I think she is afraid that a snake or scorpion will be curled up in one of the divots caused by the tree roots and she will get bit! She could protect herself if she would carry a flashlight when she is walking around at night in the dark! Duh! It’s not rocket science! I said all that to let you know that I do not appreciate the construction that is going on around my sleeping quarters! I hate the wheel barrow! It is squeaky and scary! I can’t wait to be able to get down and play in the new dirt; I can see all sorts of things in the gravel. I spied plastic water bags, bits of metal, plastic caps and lots of stuff that did not burn. One day I am going to dig until my heart is content!
I want to be an archeologist when I grow up!
