We are back in Yendi; thank you for the prayers you offered up for our safe travels.  We arrived at about 6:30 and have only partially unloaded the van.  When we passed through Tamale we stopped and bought 10 cases of Konkomba Bibles.  We will wait until tomorrow to unload them out of the van.

We did not have to get up so early this morning because we did not have to be at the airport until 10:30. Someone forgot to tell our “body clocks” that we could sleep late!  As soon as I woke up, I started working on editing the cultural information.  I finally got to a point this morning that I could start entering new information instead of organizing information.

As usual we got to the airport far too early but Steve would rather be there early than have to rush around and be flustered!  They have added several shops to the domestic side of the airport and they even added a few tables and chairs.  We got something to eat and sat at one of the little tables.  I was able to hook up the computer and continue working which made me happy!  I hate to sit and do nothing.

The plane was a little late taking off; I think it was waiting for the rain to clear in Tamale.  It was sprinkling when we landed but they had gotten a heavy rain earlier in the morning.

This is the first time that we have left a vehicle at the airport and we were anxiously wondering if it would still be there when we got back to Tamale.  The van was there but it was dark when we left the hotel on Monday morning and we had left the lights on so the battery was completely dead!  Steve was getting ready to hire a taxi to take him into Tamale and buy a new battery when the guy that was parked next to us said he would help us start the van.  He did not have a set of jumper cables so he pulled the battery out of his vehicle and brought it over to the van.  They unhooked our battery and set his battery next to it; connected his battery to our cables and Steve started the van.  After the van was started, they reconnected our battery and the guy put his battery back in his vehicle.  By the time we drove back into Tamale and did a little shopping the battery was charged back up.   Steve said that you can’t really do that trick with a gasoline engine; it’s a good thing ours is a diesel!  We were pleased that someone was willing to help us out!  Steve gave the guy a nice little gift for his help!

We are happy to be back at the mission house!

MOM AND DAD ARE HOME!  OH!  HAPPY DAY!  This is the best day of my life!  It was dark when the van pulled into the driveway!  I was surprised to see them!  I started chattering and calling to them.  Mom had her hands full and had to go in the house to set the things down; I thought that she was going to ignore me so I cried louder!

I was so excited when Mom came to my jail cell but I was too scared to come out!  I did not want to come out because it was too dark!  To get out the normal way I have to pass through a door and then into a dark hallway / entrance and I just could not bring myself to do it!  Mom tried to encourage me!  She tried to bribe me and I was desperate to get out so she could hold me but my fear held me back.   There is another door to the outside at the front of my enclosure but that door is big and Mom is always afraid that I will dart past her and run free!  Well, she has reason to mistrust me because upon occasion I have escaped!  Anyway, after it became evident that I was not coming out the scary way she squatted down and opened the big door.  I inched my way out to the door and then took one brave jump and landed in Mom’s arms!  Reunited at last!

I was starving!  Mom gave me a banana as an appetizer while she fixed my bottle!  I enjoyed that bottle; it was the best bottle I have ever had!

We need to have a little talk about all this leaving!

Love, Skeeter
